I am kind of sad when I read this thread…

I transferred my twin boys out from a so called top notch sch during their P1 as I was very upset with the sch systems- They used corporal punishment and run the sch poorly as they are too ‘popular and proud’ to accept any feedback-all they want is perfect students…

I should admit that boys are active and no children are angels. My boys are montessori trained and they r rather outspoken too. I do not wish to elaborate further abt unpleasant memories in the p1 as after that I made a decision to transfer to MJS!

It does not matter that I have to transfer them in the mid of P1, buying all new books and uniforms again. My twins did well in the school. They are p6 now.

I admit that the enrolment was used to be very low and the school standard is just average. However, my twins managed to stay in the top class yearly.

I dunno if this is the impt issue. As we do get very gd and caring form teachers though. However, there are some bad teachers out there. Being supportive and concerned parents, I gathered a few parents and went to feedback to the NEW principal last yr.

The NEW principal is young and firm. I cannot comment on how she is faring in leading the sch yet as its still too early to tell. However, this year, my twins are getting all the best teachers and I tell you- I am very pleased.

My twins are average pupils- abt 70% in P5 but class position is 30 n above cos their 1st in standard is 90%. So I strongly felt that the PSLE results this year will be one of the best.

MJS is a sch which is values parent and child bonding. We were invited to choose CCA, mooncake festival, CNY celebrations, sports day etc. I always attend all events.

Our form teacher has been teaching tis class for a few years. She liased with the parents through sms and she holds children’s day party for the class. During year end, she booked a chalet and catered buffet for the class-parents were invited too. I had made friends with many parents and we do share and update anything abt school.

I dunno if its due to that my twins are in better class, the classmates are very sweet and polite though there are some mischievous ones.

Whatever it is, its also depends on your child on academic performance though sch enviroment is impt. Parent’s support to the school is very impt too…

You may have misread Dreamybee's post. She was actually talking about ANOTHER unamed school, NOT Montfort Junior, that practises corporal punishment. She is quite happy with Montfort Junior.

My DS is currently in P2 in MJS. Honestly, i still prefer d former principal. D current one is new to d sch(barely 5 mths or so) & i can clearly notice there's a drop in discipline standard since. 😞

I'll b transferring my boy out by year end due to some bad bad experience.

                Best wishes.

I have given a whole year of chances to the form teacher of class [ Moderator's note: class name removed ] before I post this message.

She is the most unapproachable and unresponsive form teacher I have encountered!

In the begining of the year, I sent her several emails but there wasn't any single reply. I gave her the benefit of doubt that she never received my emails due to wrong email address but later found out that there is nothing wrong with her email address. When she finally responded to my emails, it was just a one liner kind of patronizing response.

When I called her to tell her that my son would be on MC due to chicken pox, her immediate response was to ask me to fax her the MC from the doctor! Not just that, she failed to return my call when she promised that she will call me back.

I was hoping to work closely with my son's form teacher so that he can improve in his studies and conduct but his form teacher is simply dissappointing!!!

I wouldn't want to leave her name here but it's not difficult to find out who is the form teacher of [ Moderator's note: class name removed ].

Last Friday, I was at school and requested to look at my son's exams compo paper, she said no due to \"school's policy\". Fine, I can respect that since it is the \"school's policy\". But when I asked her what is the rationale behind not letting the parents look at the compo paper, she simply turned to another teacher and asked \"why huh?\" The other teacher answered, \"Dunno, it's the school's policy\"!

What a convenient answer. I totally give up!

I have discussed her attitude and shared my views with the school principle on several occasions but I honestly do not see any sincere effort from her to be more approachable and responsive.

After all these bad experiences for this whole year, I am also in the midst of transferring my son out of the school. Keeping my fingers crossed!

Hello parents! I’m new here and I’m glad there’s a place for me to share my thoughts with you all.

My son is in P4E this year and has special needs. I know he’s put into the last class because he’s not that smart and I have problems with his studies. But this year the teacher for his class always go on MC, almost twice a week. It’s only week 3 and he’s already missing so many lessons. Now I quit my job last month to take care of my son. so I’m starting to worry about the things I hear from the parents in the MJPC. This teacher is teaching the last class because he always takes MC and he never mark the books and don’t give worksheets. How can the school do this to the students???

I am very very concern about how the school can help my son and how they are placing teachers for the classes. Is it the principal think my son and all his classmates are "hopeless", that’s why she don’t care what happen to the class? I heard some parents say they are like the "sacrifice".

Any suggestions to help me? Should I request to transfer class since it’s still the beginning of the year?
