Hi all, my son is in phase 2 C. We’re going for Zhangde (<1km) or GESPS (1-2km). There’s a high proportion of neighbourhood boys who goes to Zhangde in my HDB block, who seems to behaving very ‘samseng’.
Are you sure Zhangde won awards for character building ? -
sharptooth:
There are sam seng and pai gia kids in even the elite and branded schools. Zhangde did have the lowest level awards for character development initiatives (see http://app.sis.moe.gov.sg/schinfo/SIS_SearchDtls.asp?strCode=1199).Hi all, my son is in phase 2 C. Hi Chief Kiasu,
ZhandDe have the lowest award on Character Development? They are at Level 1? How about Radin Mas & River Valley?
I went to their Open House today, overall quite a nice environment. It seem that its been surronded by many HDB blocks, so usually quite many people enroll.
Also I would also want to know how come Radin Mas still do not have any Character Develpopment Award? Is there a time frame where they need to certify? -
hi, I too was there are the Zhang De open house today. I was mighty impressed with the presentation by the kids. as young as P2. The environment also looks adn feels conducive too.
I’m an open house newbie and today was my first open house, hence i’m not sure if all are the same level. Are all open houses as impressive as Zhang de’s ?
Thanks -
Hi all, I was at the ZhangDe open house which was my first one too. I share the same feeling which gave me a good impression on the students’ introduction and the environment. However, when I tried to get more details about their academic performance, the teachers simply brushed away by saying it is just a neighbouring school so should not be compared with the elite schools. A bit disappointed about the comments they made. But, they did mention that the dip in the overall result in 2007 is due to the three down syndrome students who failed the exam.
I will be going to Gan Eng Seng this weekend open house on 19/07/05 and will let you know the outcome.
Cheers. -
Hi All,
Agreed that the ZhangDe Open House was rather intersting. If you look at the leaflet, it indicating that they still have lots of improvment in achieving the KPI in thier PSLE.
Visited the GEPS Fiesta on 19 July 08. Wow it is more like a carnival fair, lots of fun games & bargains to be grab.
Can anyone analyse whether Radin Mas Primary would have balloting in Phase 2C. -
Hi all,
I am really very new in this forum. I know my decision and I will still go ahead despite the awareness of balloting. My choice is CHIJ Kellock, under Phase 2C, outside 2km radius. Definately on balloting by looking at the past records. I am willing to take the risk. It is all depends on luck! However, if I failed to get a vacancy for my girl, I need something to fall back to, in Phase 2C supplimentary. No doubt I need to look into schools that do not need balloting even in Phase 2C Supp. I work near Alexandra Rd, care to share a wiser choice? My desired choice would be:
1) Jurong Primary School
2) New Town Primary
3) Zhangde Primary
Is Zhangde better or GES?
Please advice how well Pei Tong fare. I dont mind the distance as long as the route is within West Coast Highway, AYE and/or Teluk Blangah.
I need a proper back up plan, should we fail. Desperately need your advice.
Thank you

I'm wondering whether school I should choce for quite a long time (CHIJ Kellock or Radin Mas), and my last choice of is Radin Mas, as the school principle is transfer from Rulang 3 years ago, and she brought a lot of experience on impoving students' PSLE result.
I really don't know which school I can choose. wondering... -

Radin Mas is selling like hot cakes. They offered 300 places in 2007 and shrunk to 270 this year. 10% dropped in vacancies. Thus, the risk is higher. They do ballot in Phase 2C (1-2km) in 2007 and I am not even in that radius. While in Kellock I still stand a chance - by luck! My girl wanted a girls' school and CHIJ is the closest to my office. That is why I am so definate with my choice. I will not ask for opinion when I already know my choice. Unless, CHIJ already filled even before reaching my stage. I am also eyeing on Clementi Primary if CHIJ filled before reaching my stage. They both did balloting in Phase 2C >2km in 2007. I even thought of Raffles G, but I guess I may not be that lucky afterall!
Cheers

I also thought of Raffles G at the beginning, but it's too far from my home. Even if I have the lucky to get in , it's a big trouble for my girl to go school everyday, she will get up earlier, and spend more time on the road. I think that was not good for a 6 years old child, so think and think, I decide to choose the nearst school - radin mas or CHIJ Kellock, if her performance is well, maybe I can think a way helping her to get in Raffles G in a later stage (that is my dreaming), heihei...
