[Bukit Merah] Primary Schools

Hi!
She didn’t say much, except that Radin Mas’ standard was of a "normal neighbourhood school". I asked her about her elder son’s results, and her comment was just an "ok".
It seemed to me (at that time) that she was not so impressed with Radin Mas. -
Hi All,
I'm also considering between Radin Mas & River Valley where both qualifies me under Phase 2B. In terms of building structure looks, River Valley tends to be newer as the new school was shifted in March 2004.
Agree with you that Radin Mas Pri is quite old, it had been at the present address sice 1984. In terms of accessibility, Radin Mas Pri can be reach with many buses. -
Hi all,
Dropped by RVPS this morning & found the school compound really new & not as remote as I had imagined though have to walk some distance out to the main road to the bus stop.
Somehow some people that I talked to equate the standard of RVPS to RGPS, some even thought RVPS is a SAP school.
But I also hope not to stress my children too much in a school that is too competitive since it's their 1st step to the formal education path.
For those choosing between RV & RM, care to share your choice rite now ? For me still 50-50...
Hv to make a choice in less than 2 months' time .... -
Is RVPS consider a normal neighbourhood pri school?
-
Not sure if RVPS is considered a neighbourhood school or not… but I guess its popularity is also helped by RV High (which I understand they are not affiliated)…
Titank, u’ve done PV for both RV& RM ? Care to share your experience with both schools ? -
Hi Chipmunk,
Think you & I facing the same situation where you in Phase 2A2 can enroll RVPS or Phase 2C (1Km Range) to enter RMPS.
In terms of accessibility of public transport, Radin Mas Pri seem better. It had quite many buses adequately shelter from rain & shine with link shelter walkway provided from the bus stop.
River Valley seem to have disadvantage in terms of shelter walkway. Estimate from the nearest gate takes around 10 min to walk to the bus stop.
In terms of PV experience, Radin Mas seem to be a more pressured environment. The school had obtained SDA & also claim to be leader of IT in a cluster zone. Radin Mas is located in neighbourhood estates so seem like a normal neighbourhood school.
As for RVPS, they are quite focus on the arts. As the school is located in private estates, it had many foreigners students. The school seem to be more focus on chinese, perhaps it is orginally a chinese school as in the olden days.
I'm also headache to select either Radin Mas or River Valley too. -
Yes, Titank, both of us are in the same situation now.
Agree that for RVPS, there is no proper shelter walkpaths. Actually RV previously was a Chinese school. It merged with other non-Chinese schools (I was from 1 of them) to become RVPS.
My kids are not strong in Chinese, as we tend to converse in English at home.
Brought my kids to view both schools to see which school they prefer, but they're indifferent !! -

Hi Titank!
You mentioned that River Valley has many foreign students. I thought foreigners are only eligible to apply in Phase 3, unless they are PRs? If River Valley is popular, will it still have vacancies in Phase 3? :?
River Valley required balloting for the last 3 years, am I right? Would appreciate if you could kindly enlighten me. Thanks. -

qms, u are right. RVPS required balloting for the last 3 years in phase 2C. Hence there should not be any more vacancies left for phase 2C(supp) or phase 3. -
Chipmunks:
Noticed that someone had addressed shelter for River Valley Pri School.Yes, Titank, both of us are in the same situation now.

Maybe in private estates is not important?
