I agree with schellen. Strictly vit c does not seem to build that much of an immunity. Have to top up with probiotics or other supplements.

          Hi

Have anyone tried the Nutrilite Vit C and Nutrilite protein powder?
My child has been taking it for 2 mths and has never been sick since now!
Previously we left him in the childcare centre and he has been coming back with flu and cough, someone recommended me this pdt and it works!

For Vitacoast kids supplements, is it available in pharmacies?

Currently, I have kids multivits and Cod liver oil. Is it sufficient or I need to buy vit c?

DS1 and DD2 take Smart Fish and multi-vit from Nature’s Farm. It has helped DS1 alot as he has allergic rhinitis. From seeing the doctor every month, he can now go for 3-4 months without a visit to the doctor. Smart Fish is pricey though - $46.90 for 28 satchets. But as a doctor’s visit usally costs about $100, I would rather spend the money on the supplements.

                http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Docosahexaenoic_acid

Summary of the above link about DHA from above link:-

Last yr I once attended a teacher who had done some studies and research on the effects of omega oil and dark chocolate.

According to some studies he had gone through, he mentioned that it is good for kids and adults to take fish oil. Although the brain cells when damaged it will bot regenerate, but by taking fish oil, it helps to build the synapses that hang around the brain cells. All these synapses actually help to form bridges around the cells and these are the important thing in neuro development. He also mentioned that Kids who had consistantly taken omega oil for sometimes shown a calmer mood and thus more concentration in studies.

As for the dark chocolate. It is supposed to help kid in alerting and in memory. It is good to given them some consumption before class and exams. a few small cubes of a bar Not a few Bar yeah.

Any biologists or chemists or nutritionists here?

Note: The teacher is just sharing his studies out of passion, he didn't give any flyer or brochure on any products at all.

                    :celebrate: 😄

Don’t know how true this is, but research has shown that DHA is for the brain , and that there is virtually no detection of EPA there.

Anyway, for fish oil/cod liver oil, the brand Nordic is a good choice.

Nutrilite has Postrim, a meal replacement powder, which I add to my DS’s milk in the morning. I add only a tbsp or so (he doesn’t like his milk to be really thick and also this powder sachet is meant to replace an adult’s total meal so for kids just a portion would be sufficient, furthermore I’m not using it to do a total replacement of a meal). That’s too boost up his intake of nutrients first thing in the morning. As you all know, breakfast is the most important meal of the day as that’s when our body absorbs the most as the cells are hungry after a night’s "starvation".
