Glenn Doman/GD Baby Math - Discussion
-
My boy has finished the GD program. Initially I faced the same problem as you.
But later I incorporate more pictures and encylopedia flashcards with words as well. Both English and Chinese. It helps.
All my boys started the GD at 1 mth old. Ist boy started talking in 3-4 words when he was 14mths old. 2nd boy started talking in 3-4 words when he was 7mths old.
I realised that incoporation of more right-left brain activities are needed other than flashcards in order to see if GD works. Till today my boys are still using it at age 5 and 2 yrs old. -
Hi Laughing Cat,
Your boys started speaking really early. 7 months… wow!
What do you mean by more right-brain activities?
GD is left-brain training, right?
Please share what else you did beside GD?
When you say your boys are still using GD, do you mean that you repeated all the flashcards? What about Maths? Did you revise the +,-,x, division and problem solving again and again?
BTW, I called the GD Center and they recommend me to make Maths Story books for my DS…I really am too tired to do those books. Any other good suggestion? -

Yes, my second boy started talking at 7mth old. We were amazed as well. I remember his first sentence was \"I don't want\". :lol:Hi Laughing Cat,

It was because we are more \"zai\" as we have learnt quite a great deal from the Ist boy. We incorporated loads of left brain activities. (sorry for the typo error earlier). We do loads of photomemory games, loads of flashcards, flashcards with storylines and flashcards with songs, reading story books, memory games, speed reading etc.
As for flashcards, we will repeat those that he really likes alot or he demands for that particular theme. I have more than 2000 flashcards. All the pictures are selected by me. We send it in bulk to printing company for print-out. So the picture qualities are good. So get prepared for more flashcards.
As for the maths program, we used both Shichida and Glenn Doman method. Each of them managed to repeat at least 2x before he reach 2yrs old. Yes, we have maths dots in flashcards as well, which have storylines. All are about everyday life of my boy's activities.....be it at home or outdoor activities.
Many people thinks that flashcards is the only aspect, but one must emcompasses physical aspect as well. My 2nd boy has more physical activities as compared to my first one. Swing him here and there for spatial awareness. He actually started to cruise at 6mth old and by the time he hit 1 year old, he was already running quite steadily. -
Laughing cat,
So you meant we have to really create flash-CARDS? I used the method the center teach to put the printed 80gsm A4 papers in a folder. As I said earlier on, my boy is more interested in dismantling the folder. :!: I just bought the thicker cards so I am going to flash the CARDS to him. Hopefully he opens up.
And just where did you get your creative juice to create so many stories? Any suggestion on that? My mind just bloat up after work each day to think of the stories to write.
Looks like your ds2 benefitted from all the treasures from ds1. Lucky boy.. -
Hello Brainkid,
Yes, I create my own flashcards. Tedious but fun.
Storylines loads…can be the following:-
1. a trip to the market/ supermarket
2. a trip to the favourite class
3. Blowing candles. Blowing 1 candle, 2 candles, 3 candles etc
4. action time - capture those photos of kid’s activies such as "crying", "walking", "running", "bathing", "laughing", reading", "sleeping", "combing hair" etc
5. Where is the teddy bear? (pictures of bear inside the pail, outside the pail, on the pail, besides the pail etc)
6. Child’s favourite toys
7. Why I love Mummy?
8. Why I love Daddy?
etc… -

Or did you make flashcards in booklet form?
If in booket, do you staple them together or flash like the cards?! -
I do duplicate - one set for my boys and one set for myself. Those that my boys like, I will do it in booklet for them to flip as and when they want. As for me, I prepared in flashcards.

First, do you have 2 sets of English? The center recommends you to start showing words with pictures after you are done with the 1st set as a form of enhancement and revision.
The book does not state but I guess we parents have to be a bit imaginative and innovative with the GD programs.
