My boy just started p1 this yr. I am quite disappointed w how my school has been so far.
My class’s teacher sends out information thru email on Sunday’s midnight! My goodness! It’s ridiculous! I need to work thus how can I prepare my boy for his assignments given such short time frame!
When I call the school, the admin wasn’t helpful as well! Terrible!
Wonder what happened to my school!
Did anyone hv the same experiences? -
forgetful: actually it’s quite common. My 2 students are in NHPS. The science teacher actually send out an email on friday evening indicating that there would be a ‘online test’ on sunday 8pm. The parent was actually quite upset because…
1. The school expect every student’s home to have a computer. Luckily the email was sent to the father and he happens to be still on the net.
2. The school did not consider the fact that not every parent check their emails everyday.
3. The school did not consider that some students might already have something on (eg. tuition, family gathering, overseas)
So the parent actually call up the teacher to sort the matter out. Actually NHPS teachers are quite ‘scared’ of the parents. If you guys ‘gang up’ and ‘complain’ to the teachers, they would actually do something about it. -
Hi forgetful,
My girl is also in P1 NHPS this year, so far yet to get a single email from any teachers.
Homework also not much. -
Hi lzxuan and Josephine, Many thanks for your sharing. Being a working mother, I find it frustrating to not have proper communications from School.
Thks. -
Hi,
My DD is also in NHPS P1, yet to receive any emails from teachers, but DD has homework almost everyday........
I think it's good to have regular homework (appropriate amount), cos now everyday after lunch, she'll check her handbook to see what homework to do.... -
Forgetful: You might want to get in contact and meet up with the form teacher. You can write in your kid’s handbook with a note asking for the form teacher’s HP number and ask you kid to show the handbook to the teacher. This is what my tutee’s mum always does. Anything that she wants to feedback and clarify, she would just write a note: "Call me. xxxx xxxx" That would be easier for a working mum. Hope this helps.
