            Maths heuristic workshop was ok.

Got to know what are the types of problem solving skills from P1 to P6. A little overwhelming and mind boggling - trying to do maths on a hot afternoon… but I think it was a good effort on the school’s part to let the parents know what the kids are in for… But I thought they could have concentrated more on the P1 heuristic stuff instead.

How do you find the teachers so far? DS class has 27 pupils only.

I think DS class has 30 pupils.

Met his FT and CL tr this afternoon.
FT Ms Wong is good. She shared how DS is like in class and how he interacts with his peers/group, what he is good at and how else we can help him improve and focus. Also got the handouts from the previous Parent Briefing on assessment criteria and rubrics. I wrote notes for the FT in the BT Kit and they were all quickly followed up.
CL tr Ms Lee also updated on how DS did in class, and what will be happening in the next few terms for CL (e.g. writing of characters in Term 2 onwards)

Generally I have pretty good feelings about his teachers.

What about the rest of the mummies?

                      Hi.huaywenandkenneth,

Tks 4 sharing . We couldn't make it for the meeting but had indicated oher means of communication but yet to receive any call.

I would say tje MT teacher is excellent. She always update her blog promptly. I had a glimpse of all DS work from his MT file.

But had no idea what mistakes he made for his Math and English.

Did you get any termly report at the meeting? I tot we wijj get a piece of report summarizing our kids' perfornance? :? S

DS said that FT told then that they don't need the test score to pronote to p2. (when I threatened him that he will reamain in P1 if he doesn't work hard enough) :stupid:

And when I threaten him that he will have nothing to eat for recess if he didn't keep his wallet afterchange of uniform for washing or put it in his pocket the next day. He replied no worries, he can just go to general office to put down his namee and class and they will give money. He even told me can borrow next day ,too. 😢

For DS's Maths and EL, I would look through his workbook, files and topic reviews when they come back. From there I can tell if he has made mistakes due to carelessness or lack of understanding. E.g. one of the recent Maths topics his FT also said that it was quite difficult for the children to understand, and I clarified that during test/exams they would not need to use any specific methods to solve these maths questions (phew).

FT didn't give any termly report. I guess this is not the same as Meet-The-Parents for kindergartens 😄

So far I've asked my DS to try his best for the tests etc and he was ok. Of course he can do better if he is less careless and check his work.

I understand exactly how you feel about the money bit. My boy came back with no money one day (he gave some of his money away when his classmate said he had no money!!) and lost $1.50 another day when he placed the money + his wallet on the canteen table and went to toilet, so he only had money to buy a glass of milo (but his equally blur classmate returned it promptly the next day when his mother found the extra money in his wallet - his classmate took it when he thought it was his 😢 ).

I've also told DS about informing his FT or loaning the money from the office, just in case one fine day he really forgets to bring or drop his wallet. Just got to tell him not to abuse this, as the intent is to develop sense of responsibility in him to look after his own belongings, but not to go hungry during recess.
