Printer Recommendation!

Very true. A friend in the IT retail business told me their margin for printers is very very low, but they make their money selling cartridges/toner.To me, all printers are generally quite cheap, it's the consumables that kill.
I would recommend to go for inkjet printer, as you can get refillables from Sepoms:

Some might say the non-original ink will spoil the printer, but to me,the printer is cheap enough (most come free with pc/ laptop) to write off as disposable item!
Using refills is good idea, but best to do it after your warranty is over.
Think most brands will void warranty if you use refills. -
We switched from Brothers to HP Deskjet Printer and this primter cost less than $100.
It is both a black n color printer, scan, photocopy…
Hp Deskjet Printer ink does not clog or dry up unlike the brother inkjet printer. So we abandoned the brother printer even though it is still usable…
I recommend HP printer… -
I just threw out a Brother laser printer. It gave us about 8 years of printouts (which is good), but the printouts tended to be very light (which is not so good), for some reason or other. I am looking for a HP during the coming PC show to replace it. Somehow, the HP printout is a lot nicer.

I have been using my HP laser printer for coming to 9 yrs.
But for the coming IT show, I am looking for a printer since my current printer can't support the latest OS - Windows Vista. In addition, my PC is already 9 yrs old and seems quite unstable now. So might look out for an offer that sell both the PC and a HP laser printer at a lower price. Best if can trade in both the printer and PC.
Just wondering if get the latest printer, can still with OS - windows XP. Since the OS that I am using is still windows XP but hubby's netbook is on vista... That is big problem with Windows.

That means now printer can cost like $0-$99 & expect you to pay high price for the cat ridges?
It seem that once you open it would dry up very fast if you never print it. -

You are right. I bought a Canon 3 in 1 printer for $99 but the black cartridge costs $26 while the colours costs $35.That means now printer can cost like $0-$99 & expect you to pay high price for the cat ridges?

If printing for info only, choose \" gray scale\" and \" fast draft\" under print settings before printing. Will help to save ink. -

I thought this problem is specific to inkjet printers. Is it the case with laser printer too? That means now printer can cost like $0-$99 & expect you to pay high price for the cat ridges?

The ink problem only applies to ink jet.
If you go laser, the problem is you probably has to go for BW. It is expensive to maintain color laser. They rob you on the toner as well. -

Thanks for the tip. I'm intending to buy a BW laser. I'm tired of the color drying out of my previous inkjet printer coz I rarely used it.The ink problem only applies to ink jet.

Info on Brand/Model/ :moneyflies: will be useful.
