      hot:
      Thanks for the advise.

I intend to place an order for around 1500REM. The shipping cost is approx. 1125REM. Total cost is 2625REM. Is it worth buying with such high shipping cost? I thought I saw some where that there is 20% shipping cost when hit a certain amount of order?

I can't find that post but if remembered correctly need to liaise with DD and the amt is about S$400 and above worth of goods, don't think it include shipping cost. But with that amt, it will incur GST at our custom.

If the books can be found locally, you can compare the price.

When i use my new found RR number and check on

        http://intmail.183.com.cn/item/batch/itemBatchQuery.do?action=Enter

        it gave me this info

        RR964820xxxSG \t2011 \tarrival at inward office of exchange \tSINGAPORE \tSINGAPORE \t2011-04-19

So my items did arrived before 8 weeks, but Singpost took 1 week+ to deliver to me :?

My RR number from DD is RR861098xxxCN

        Anyone have 2 different RR?

No wonder DD ask me to check with Singpost! 😐

If i know that the delay is from Singpost, i would have called Singpost instead.

DD take the blame for nothing :salute:

        SAHM Chew:

Now, i know why my status is not updated and I cannot track in Singpost. Because, My RR number is different.
I check my card, and my RR number is totally different from the one that DD gave me.
        My tracking number is RRxxxxxxxxxSG.

            O ya… I forgot about GST..thanks for the reminder 

Can advise total cost in REM + shipping in order not to incur GST?
Based on shipping cost given by DD, roughed work out of the shipping cost to be about 75% of the total cost. Do you think there any error?

              hot,
My advise is to order about RMB 100 to 200 at a time. This is because if you order too many books at a time, the box most likely will split and the books may be damaged.

Also, it seems that big orders are more likely to be delayed.

Oh…ic. Thanks for the advise, Tamarind. This way, it easier to know where to cap my order. If I made several orders, will DD combine them into 1 invoice?

                    Hi hot,

dangdang will not combine it. The shipping process can be really rough, you will be surprised when you see your parcel.

The box they use is suitable for hand delivery within China, not suitable for putting inside container ships

Also, I advise you not to order too many books at a time, try a few books and see if your kids like them first.

If you split your oder, DD will not combine. But from my experience, can only make one transaction per day. But maybe it could be due to my credit card.

Based on the feedback on this thread, some parents have experienced problems with dangdang direct shipping, and I haven't heard of dangdang giving full refund for lost parcels, unlike amazon.com.

Personally I have not lost any parcel yet, and I have ordered about 20 times.

I advise parents not to order too much in one order, in case the parcel gets lost in the mail, it may not be easy to get a refund. One suggestion is to file a dispute in your transaction with the credit card bank if you don't receive the parcel after 50 days, then settle it after you receive the parcel.

Note that you can also visit Maha Yuyi bookshop at Bras Basah level 3, though the books are more expensive.

Other options are http://www.amazon.cn (fast but very expensive), http://www.65daigou.com (based on weight), and SMH sprees(cheapest but don't know whether they are reliable). I have not tried any of these, not sure whether they are reliable.

Of course the most reliable, fastest and cheapest is to order the books and have them delivered to your hotel while you are on holiday in China πŸ˜‰

The National Library is also a good place to look for Chinese story books.
