Since quite number of anxious parents were asking about feedback of Poi Ching Primary school, I am thinking to post a Q&A here, so that hopefully it will help you in making decision of chosing right school for your child... -
Can anyone comment if the before/after school care at Simei Street 4 is good or not? Anyone has any kid there? Can you give me some feedback?
Which block is it at?
Also, I heard there are 2 school care near Poi Ching. Can anyone comment your experience with them?
Hi amylqf. Why do you have school care in Bedok? Is it because you found it good? What about the school care in Simei Street 4? Is it good?
Heard a lot of before/after school care is no good coz quite a lot of students with bad manners will influence the rest who are good. So I just want to be careful. Thanks.amylqf:
Hi, which area in simei do you stay?kanghu:
Hi.
Anyone can recommend any good Before and After School care centre on the east?
I am staying in Simei. School care in Bedok, Tampines would be good.
I have heard a lot of stories that many before/after school care centre have kids whereby they are very bad mannered. I certainly don't want my kids to mix with too many of these kind of kinds. So, I am trying to find a relatively good centre whereby they would filter the kids quality and minimize this kind of bad mannered kids.
Any suggestion?
Also, what should I expect for the cost of a before/after school care centre?
Thanks.
I know there is a simei student care @simei street 4.
not sure about the price, may couple of hundred per month. -
I have no idea about school careโs quality as my child is not in school care.

Dear Parents,
I do admit that I did not planned and have had regretted it deeply.
Yes, I am those that think its not \"so cool\" to be Kiasu for Pri 1 registration in one of the thread listed... and much regretted it now deeply.
:stupid:
Anyone know if you stay within 0.54km of St Hilda's Primary School, will the chance of getting into this school via 2C phase be easlier? Pls help...
Thank you very much...

Hi jenybc, don't worry... it's not the end of the world if you cannot get into St. Hilda's. If you think it is important enough, you can:Dear Parents,

1. Put yourself in the waiting list.
2. Help your daughter do well in her P1 and P2 and apply for transfer to St Hilda's in P3 which has more students per class.
As far as we can tell, your chance of getting into St Hilda's is at MOST 1 in 3... it could be as bad as 1 in 4. Balloting is almost guaranteed for those staying less than 1km, which you are, so thats a good thing. Unfortunately, being 0.5km away does not give you any advantage over the person 0.99km away... you are all in the same bucket.
Recommended strategy for you:
1. Look at all the other schools in http://www.kiasuparents.com/kiasu/content/tampines. Choose those whose TUR reaches 100% by Phase 2C, ie Chongzheng, East Spring, Gongshan, Poi Ching, and St Hilda's.
2. Further eliminate all those that are more than 1km away. You will not even get to ballot in these schools.
3. Now look at the next set of schools that traditionally have space in Phase 2C(S) (ie. Changkat, East View, Griffiths, Junyuan, Qiaonan, Tampines North, Tampines Primary, and Yumin). Select the ones which will reach 100% by the end of Phase 2C Sup, or at least close to it, eg. Tampines North.
4. So you now have a set of schools which you can feasibly consider.
- If you are a risk taker, you have to ensure that you can live with failure in Phase 2C, ie. that the 2nd tier school you are targeting is \"good enough\" for you.
- If you are adverse to risk, then go get the school which may require balloting in Phase 2C(S) NOW, by Phase 2C.
Good luck.
