Yes to all your questions. But if I know for sure, I would be sitting in the Bahamas right now sipping Tequila and predicting this Saturday's 4D results to support my lifestyle.Dear ChiefKiasu
What would be the most likely scenario why those two place were withdrawn ?
They were predicting a higher chance of securing a place in Phase 2B in another school thus withdrawing from MBS ?
The rule says you cannot register with more than two schools in the same phase right ? -
MMM:

thx -
Hi netchat,
Thanks for your feedback.
So we got a new resource to ask about honda cars
For that I will probably PM you. It's good for you to get to know dizzyguy too since you guys are both P1 parents next year.
In terms of preparation, I think diff parents have diff expectations but on the other hand, there is still time. When I met up with the P1 mgr this year (my son's teacher), her 1st question to me was, are you happy with his results? I told her I was considering where he had progress from. Apparently his class has the \"cleverer/ more well prepared kids\" so despite that his scores are ok, he still ended up 15/ 30 in class.... My friend who is HOD in one of the pri school told me that in the initial stage, it's how prepared the kids are that set the difference. But over time, it is those with good family support that will continue to do well.
Personally, I feel that a checklist at this point would be :
1) Ability to read/ recognise words. Knowledge of phonics is helpful.
2) hanyu pinyin (HYPY) knowledge. I am not saying that chinese characters are not important, it is. But particularly in term 1, the focus is on hypy and then in term 2, they move more to chinese characters but still focus on hypy.
In Q4 last yr, my son did a intensive hypy lesson at Molin and I felt that it helped him tremendously for P1. You just need to do some evaluation. -
Good Morning MMM.
I will call up MOLIN later to enquire about courses. -
Dear MMM
What do you think are the chances for phase 2C for people under 1KM ?
My friend is registering under 2C.
Currently, there’s about 54 openings.
According to my predictions, I think under 1KM is 100%. -
Hi,
Have you seen the historical balloting info on the school website and the kiasuparents balloting chart 2009 vs historical? Not sure if this is the right way to do the link... :?
Last year they had 50 places for phase 2C and there was balloting within 1km. I feel that it is 50:50 this year because although the birth rate for 2010 registration is lower, this year's demand for MBS appears strong across the different phases (if you look at kiasuparents chart 2009 vs historical). I am not sure if this is due to MBS's shift to new school premise.
Actually I always find MBS Phase 2B interesting. They appeared to be \"managed/ controlled\" to keep it within limit. Maybe SBF also acts like SHHK and control the applicants ??? Just wondering....

Maybe your friend can't wait and see and monitor the actual situation before putting in his registration? That is provided he has backup plans. -
Chief: i got busted from KHS, now seeking your advice for phase 2c.
St Stephan (1-2km) or Ngee Ann Primary, check the web on both school academic preformance, ngee ann seems to be a more rounded. And DH prefers son to get into mixed school…This is a headache for me now. -

I'm sorry to hear that, June.Chief: i got busted from KHS, now seeking your advice for phase 2c.
St Stephan (1-2km) or Ngee Ann Primary, check the web on both school academic preformance, ngee ann seems to be a more rounded. And DH prefers son to get into mixed school...This is a headache for me now.
St Stephen has the added advantage of being affiliated to SJI for Secondary education, which some prefer. Ngee Ann is indeed a good and well-rounded school, and affiliated to Ngee Ann Secondary.
If it is up to me, I'll choose the one which is nearer to me, ie. less than 1km. -
Chief: Life is full of difficult choices...How i wish I can be in control of the situation somtimes..For secured places, it seems that St Stephen is a more favourable choice jus that it's a boy school..
Thanks Chief once again, I nvr knew that such decision are so difficult
