Yuneng seems to be a popular school in the past but it seems like it's popularity seems to be decreasing over the years.

Anybody knows the reason why ? :?

Feng Shan is a merged school which is also around 2001 or 2002. With only few batches of graduates, hard to show result.

        Hi,

        What is a merged school????

I thot fengshan has been around for 50 years.... My mum told me that when she 1st came to Spore at the age of 11. She was refused a place in fengshan although my grandpa and granduncles are the committee board then. So she hated the school for not giving her a chance to further her studies and didn't want me to go to fengshan at that point (which alot of my cousins did).

          Hi,

Quoted from the school website (http://www.fengshanpri.moe.edu.sg/cos/o.x?c=/wbn/pagetree&func=view&rid=3383) - \"The present Fengshan Primary School was merged on 2nd January 2001 to take on the challenge of bringing 2 schools (former Ping Yi Primary School and Fengshan Primary School) together into the new Fengshan family of nearly 2500 pupils in 66 classes.\"

The present school combine students of former Ping Yi primary school and Feng Shan Primary School, just that they did not adopt a new name. Of course, one can still based on the fact that Feng Shan Primary is not exactly a new school in the sense that it still has students from the old Feng Shan Primary but in my view, it is not the same as the old school.

          Best Regards,
          chie

              Hello there,

I need some advice on which Primary school i should choose. I have just sold my flat in Punggol and moving to the east. Im deciding between 2 schools Yu Neng or St Stephans for my son who is due for registration next year.

I've tried PV for St hilda but i think i got rejected. sigh

              Few things im concern about.
              1) academic
              2) leadership
              3) sportsmanship

How do they fair between them?

can somone give me their honest opinion between this 2 schools with regard to my concerns.
I'm not too sure about Yu Neng .. so i can't comment.
I know of people trying to send their sons to St Stephen's 2 years ago but was unsucessful even tho some stayed within 1 km.
My fren is registering her son for next year in Phase 2C (which i believe starts tomorrow or some time these 1-2 weeks) ... based on current statistics , there are curently only 9 places left for Phase 2C ... slim chance but worth trying.
I can't say if the standard is good or not ... but it is definitely quite a popular school in the East , looking at how \"competitive\" the enrolment is ..
i heard apart from its Manadarin , St Stephen's is actually quite a good school with an all-round academic focus including sports like soccer & swimming ... but unless u stay within 1 KM or was an old boy, i think it is not that easy to get in.

Dear YingYing, your friend may be quite mistaken... there should be 68 + 9 = 77 places left in St Stephens for children in Phase 2C. The TUR has dropped by 11% this year from the average of the past 3 years. If your friend stays within 2km of the school, he/she stands a great chance to get her child in the school next year.

I am deciding btw Temasek Primary and Ngee Ann. For Temasek, I am within 1 km but understand from past history that balloting is req’d even for those within 1km under phase 2C. As for Ngee Ann, I am outside of 2km range … Anybody has any advice on what is the best strategy given my circumstances? Any thoughts / feedback on Ngee Ann?

Hi, parents, my girl is going to P1 in 2011, I am considering Red Swastika, just realized it is SAP school after browsing the forum. Could anyone share their view about this school, I don’t worry about higher Chinese (she just need to cope with it, we are Chinese anyway), but more to the academic and teacher quality of the school in all aspect and also to the fact that there are no or minimum number of kids from other races, will that post a potential problem for kids to interact with other races or accept cultural difference in future? I was accepted as PV for Red Swastika, but nothing being assigned yet, does any parents know what kind of duties the school allocate normally, will they allocate at least 40 hours before next years registration?

Besides Red Swastika, I am also looking at Temasek Primary, not sure which one is a better school to go to. Appreciate if you could share your experiences with these two schools. Thanks

Hmm..not too sure if you are looking at academice achievements or popularity .... but looking at the votes above - St Stephen's has 12% while Fengshan is 0%. I guess In terms of popularity, St Stephen's reigns over Fengshan given the votes ...
