        hi postpet,

        here is the formula:

(the year your child born in + 3) ==> yr of admission into N1 (Pre-nursery), in any kindergarten. Kindergarten are regulated & controlled by MOE.

(the year your child born in + 7) ==> yr of admission, Primary 1.

since yr child born in 2010, he will be admitted for N1 Term 1, January 2013.

he will be admitted into Primary 1, January 2017.

              hi postpet,

              your child very young.

best time to read lots of storybooks to him. Bring him to National library often. Choose those storybooks that got a large colorful picture printed in the centre, with bare minimal words. At this age, they like to see big, colorful, attractive, funny looking pictures!

best time to enjoy your parenting hood with him!

                    today is June 2011.

next year, 2012 January admission is for kids born in:-

                    - 2006 (K2, 2012)
                    - 2007 (K1, 2012)
                    - 2008 (N2, 2012)
                    - 2009 (N1, 2012)

next yr 2012, strange ... some Primary schools reduce P1 intake:-

at kindergarten level, personally i feel that Montessori Maths the actual touching and feeling of concrete material to understand abstract concepts - is crucial towards helping your child acquire the understanding and build a strong foundation from P1 Maths onwards:-
