When I was looking around our neighbourhood for schools for my DS and came accross North Vista and their approach. I had seek my DS CCC teacher for her opinion and she was very surprise that a Primary school using this approach and was encouraging us to go for this school as it suit my DS. (My son is very active and has short attention span)Hi All
As above : http://www.northvistapri.moe.edu.sg/Site/Curriculum/Entries/2008/7/3_Reggio-Inspired_Curriculum_Approach_Philosophy.html
Any feedback from parents whose kids are currently with North Vista and the views of parents about this approach?
This approach is also similiar to a few psychologist theory on how children learning stages and progress. You can read up more from the link and on Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky on their theory on learning and development.

My SIL's colleague who sent her children to North Vista is also quite satisfied with the school. Heard from my SIL that they will let every child try out each CCA to see if there's any interest before the child join. Eg. she gave is that each child is given a chance to go for audition for Chior.
This is how we decided to just go for north vista and give the more popular school a miss.

Hi JCC mum,
Tks for your post whc many of us have been waiting for.
Wonder whether you can help to answer one big question.
How are the students doing academically. We are not sure whether this method works for getting reasonably good PSLE result. Because we r still in Singapore and their PSLE results dictate where they go.
Worry that they fray away from the mainstream but still have to sit for the same exam as the mainstream whc is PSLE tailored (practise and drill).
Hope you could help us get some precious feedback on this aspect.
Tks much. -

Heard from one of my friend who has children at Nan Chiau that the principal when over to Anchor Green to set up the school. If this is true then Anchor Green be quite good too. However not sure if there are any more changes, you might want to call Anchor Green to confirm.JSC:
see http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/vacancies/#seng-kang
Looking at the data, seems quite risky to ballot Nan Chiau at 2C and still hope there's vacancy at 2C supp for Anchor Green if i fail at 2C.
Hi, I also in the same situation. Thinking of Anchor Green if fail to get a place at Nan Chiau. I'm even thinking of cancelling my registration with Nan Chiau and just go straight to Anchor Green. Cos looking at the statistics, Anchor Green might get quite high enrolment % this year. The vacancies they offer for last 2 years is alot more than this year.

Cannot comment much on the academic side as there's no school exam for P1 & P2. North Vista's highest level is only up to P4, there's no PSLE result to show yet. However the reason why my SIL colleague sent her children to North Vista instead of Nan Chiau is that she saw her neighbour kids in sch uniform and going to school on Sunday morning. She would like her children to enjoy their learning process instead.Hi JCC mum,

I just called up NCPS... all the applications for P1 so far are those living within 1km...

Just came back from registration at NQ.
Balloting for 2C <1km applicants will be on 11th Aug 9am.
\"Lucky Draw\" will be carried out by ourselves (parents). Those who cannot make it for Ballot Day will have the other parents draw for you. Teachers at the school will not draw for you.
So, make sure you wash your hands with flower water and go Temple PaiPai before going down.
WISH US LUCK. -
Hi JCC mum,
Dont think AnchorGreen’s principal is from Nanchiau.
I spoke to AnchorGreen’s principal personally and she was from White Sands Pri. She’s very approachable and down to earth, and the kind who will watch the teachers.

Hello Friends,
Whatever North Vista has done it is remarkable, for a school 1-2 yr old to get this kind of response is really great. (‘:celebrate:’)
Based on last yr data, I had registered my daughter in Rivervale, as I am within the 1KM range. I knew there will be a Balloting, and if I did not succeed then will register in NorthVista in phase 2C(S).
But, there were 2 Shocks (‘:!:’) I got yesterday, one, all the applications in Rivervale are within 1 km range so the chances are only 30%-33% as the applications are already 175 as of yesterday (assume there would be 180-190).
Second, North Vista got 167 appl as of yesterday (assuming total to be 185-190). Now my calculations say that of all the applicants unsuccessful in Rivervale, CompassV and NC atleast 50%-60% will rush to NV in phase 2C(S), which means that there will be a balloting there as the bal in 2C(S) will only be about 30 seats in NV.
SO here is what I did, I withdrew my application from Rivervale and registered in NorthVista today itself. I did not want to take a double chance of Balloting first in RiverV and then again in NV. (‘:D’)
does anybody know anyone who studies in NV, I think everyone is wanting to know something about the school -
I went twice to NorthVista today at 9 am and again at 2:30 PM, when I register at 9am my num was 175, and there were 6-7 parents waiting. when I went at 2:30 I still saw 7-8 parents there. The seats there have gone very fast in 2C.
I think many parents have done what I did, to withdraw from RV/CV and apply in NV…
I would appreciate if anyone can provide some insight to the school.
