Hi All,
I had received letter from Fairfield Methodist Pri that my PV application is not successful. Is there anyway to appeal? Other than performing as Grassroot Leader, how can qualify in Phase 2B(2)

titank:
Fairfield Methodist Pri has consistently required balloting even for less than 1km in Phase 2C, and for greater than 2km in Phase 2B even if the parents did all the PV work. This means that if you couldn't win the ballot at Phase 2B, you will not even get a chance to ballot in Phase 2C since you stay >2km from the school.Hi All,

I believe it is this consideration that the school has decided not to accept your PV, and it is really for your own good. Most likely they have received many more requests for PV than they have places for children, and decided simply to say no to parents who do not stay in the 2km zone. I would recommend that you just forget about Fairfield and target something closer to home. -
Hi Chief Kiasu,
Based on the past history of balloting of Fairfield Pri, if performing PV confirm enter in Phase 2B in-regardless of distance?
Maybe now the only option is to be Community Leader where can qualify for Phase 2B. -

can anyone advice about New Town Primary? I saw their website and seems like their Maths is very strong. -
What about Queenstown? Their academic past performance does not look too good. But their environement is not too bad, you know. Quite serene and tranquil. Just taht it is opposite the jail.
Same morning session for all grades. 240 students in all ,so is smaller size , easier for the principal to manage. New principal - so hopefully will bring about some good things. CCA wise - quite varied and wide choice. Nephew is studying there. His parents told me the teachers are very good and offer regular feedback on students. They respond quickly when parents sms them. I am also thinking of which school to go. Sometimes i think at the end of the day, is the brandname game…cos of the brandname, all flock to those schools and chances of having the good students/ top performers are higher…but many good sec schools have a good mix of their students coming from all kinds of neighbourhood schools, like RGS.

I have heard quite a number of parents praising New Town Pri, so that could be something you can target. Have you gone down to both schools to take a look for yourself?...We have registed at Zhangde Pri thru' phrase 2C and looks like need to go thru’ balloting.

Hi ChiefKiasu,
Thank you for your feedback, we have not go to these two school to have a look but understand that New Town Pri will be moving to new campus in 2009.
We will do so over the weekend. -
Hi all,
what a Godsend this site is! Thanks mods for setting it up, may not remove the stress of P1 registration but can at least share the angst.
I live in the West Coast area and the reality is that I have nothing to speak of within 2k of my house. Blame me for lack of foresight but when I moved a few years back, proximity to a Primary school wasn't a consideration at all  . Here's the rub, the 2 closest schools to my place are Nan Hua and Fairfield, and I have been accepted as PV to both.
Unfortunately, my experience thus far has been underwhelming. I have done a few hours at NH, and FMPS, after having confirmed acceptance, has not followed up at all. My plea for help;
1) Both schools are really tough to get in. Based on 2009 admission exercise, it appears that FMPS PV did not have to ballot, regardless of distance. Is this true? I know NH PV had to ballot.
2) Is it typical for school admin to be lukewarm in engaging PV? I have sent a few e-mail but have received \"We'll get back to you\" replies only.
Thanks much!
