      Hi cholecube

Oh what a waste that he quits the chinese calligraphy! I thought it is good to train their concentration and patience. Moreover, to learn more chinese words. Does your son likes chess? NA engages inchess to teach the kids but we have to pay.
I also hope NA provides Golf as cca too!
How is your son coping in NA? P3 has more work and extra 1 subject.

yes, that is what i thought too, in fact my son was nominated by his Chinese teacher to attend the chinese calligraphy, his chinese teacher is also one of the calligraphy teacher. my son's hand writting is horrendous! but after going for a year, he refused to attend despite my persuasion.
yes, he did tell me abt the chess, but in the end, he chose floor ball.

yup, i can feel the big jump from P2 to P3.
from what i see, he is doing ok for Science, but he needs to buck up on his English and Chinese.
need to check with you, i realised that he doesnt have much homework from school to do everyday. other than the weekly spelling, dictation and tin xie, he has nothing much from school. wondering if your son's homework is like that too. 🤷
becos he is not getting much homework everyday, i have to plan my own assessment work for him to do..

          Hi cholecube

My son has quite alot of homework. I remembered Maths has Maths Homework and Maths Workbook, besides, process skills too. For English, English learning sheets, English Tests workbook, vocab, grammar. And for chinese, teacher asks to do zhi zhi pao, practice writing, besides the usual workbook. Science also has process skills besides the usual workbook. In fact, seems like everyday he has homework to do. I don’t even have time for assessment work. In fact, sometime seems like not enough time becos after cca and other sch activities, back home already late, so only at nite to do homework plus if at nite he has tuition, that’s it. The worst is if the next day has tin xie, die! Though weekend he can learn, but he is pack with tuition and golf. Oh plus he has to do tuition work too! Seems like not enough time.

😓 indeed, your boy is very busy!
strange, how come my DS has not much work to do 🤷
i keep asking him if there are homework to be done, most of the time he said no.
DS also has to stay back 3 times per week after school.
Tueday there is Nero Math, Wed is CCA and Thur Short story writting followed by swimming lesson in the evening, Friday is home tuition. we lived in Tampines, by the time he reaches home is ard 5pm.
he will rest and take his shower, watch a bit of TV
normally i reach home ard 6ish, then will go thru his h/w (if any), and give him assessment work to do. his Chinese is poor, so i try to make him do more reading.
for ting xie and spelling, i will make him revise during weekend, bcos weekdays is too packed for him.
Sat he also has his Berries lesson. his only free day left is sunday.
think of it, actually the kids now very poor thing. i dun remember i have so much to do when i was his age 😓

i am just wondering why he dun have much h/w from school..

yes he did and i signed it
i thought those were done in class and teacher normally will assign some homework for them to do at home. so i was thinking how come my DS is so free :skeptical:

i just terminated the school bus last month. DS used to take 1 way school bus home from school, the fee was $124 per month. i drive him to school before i go to work (its on the way). the school bus journey took abt 1.15hr.
starting from this term, he has to stayed back in school 3 times a week and he will have to pay extra $5 to the bus driver for each time he stayed back after school. after working out, i felt its not worth taking school bus. so now i get my maid to fetch him home by public bus instead. If DH is free and ard that area, he will pick him up.
starting from next yr, i may ask him to take bus back on his own, he sound scare but i guess he has to grow up

initially i wanted to enroll DS in Gongshang (near my house), but that year, the number of balloting was high and i do not have the guts to go thru that. 😓

i was an ex-NA pupil, so i enrolled DS under phase 2. 😂
my DD who is going to P1 next year, i had also enroll her in NA too

                  Hi cholecube

Oh I c. Currently, my son is taking school bus to sch too and I also think it is ex and time consuming. We stay at Bedok. So now, when he has to stay back, I get him to take bus instead. We’r paying $4 per trip. Next yr, he will not b taking sch bus.
As for my DD, I’ve not decided yet which sch. She’s now 4. But thinking of going thru everything again, I’ve headache. My son has gone thru balloting twice with no luck. NA is thru reserved when he failed his ballot. I have to go thru the trouble to transfer him from another school.
But I thought usually they’ve Maths homework and chinese. Maths has quite a bit to do.
                  Today is remedial Chinese.

i just questioned my DS ytd about his homework. he told me most of the time he finished in class or he does it before i reach home from work. but i suspect that there are some he didnt do. :stompfeet:

i found that some of the exercises/worksheet were blank, so when i asked him, he said teacher did not require them to do. i find it strange..
i told him i am going to conduct \"spot-check\" on his bag more often now.hopefully he will not try anything funny..
DS tends to be complacement everytime i give him the freedom...

how you find NA? i was comtemplating if i shld put my DD in a school near my house or remain in the same school as Kor kor. but school that i wanted near my house needs to go thru balloting and i hate to be put on the edge 😓 of balloting

as for your DD, you still got 2 more yrs to think abt it

i wish my son is able to take bus back himself, but he kept saying he is scared, i think will wait for next yr and see how he progress.

                      Hi cholecube

I think u hv to check e sch bag everyday. I remembered they’ve to do all the maths worksheets. How many maths workbook? Does he copy the chinese words in every chapter tt e teacher give?
Well u hv to think carefully for yr DD. There’s good n bad.
My son also said he is scared the first time he took bus home. But after a few times, he is OK now.
I couldnt get into Red Swastika for him becos within 2km still has to ballot. Then I chose NA. But also need ballot. Well, both time no luck. Then I put him on waiting list. Thereafter, he got in Tanjong Katong but NA called me said theres a place. So I hv to go to NA to take e form then went to TK to do transfer. Its very troublesome. So when I think of my girl, I think I m in the same boat as u!
