              Hi All

My M’sian friend’s gonna send her son to P1 here, hubs and me offered to be the guardians and place to stay. Since New Town and Queenstown Primary are so near my place, we recommended these 2 schools to her, moreover these are the 2 schools most likely to have vacancies till Phase3.

Since this is the most active thread, need some of your advice and sharing:

              1) What are the documents to bring during the registration? Are there many forms to fill? Should I get it in advance for her instead? (We visited the 2 schools but not much info given, they just said come on 28th August)

              2) Is it better play safe to reach the school of choice by 8am or earlier since it’s first-come-first-serve?

              3) For those chosen QPS, can share why you prefer it than NTPS? (I know i should ask this Qn in other relevant threads but as mentioned this thread’s most active!)

              TIA!

                Hi all :
Last i heard (abt 3.30pm) from both QPS and BRPS no balloting (nothing unusual... hehe)
In any case, it was good that i didnt put myself through another trauma with GESP since I'm out of even the 2km radius in the first place... 😉

Congrats to you too, sumoon and chipmunks!!! :celebrate:

                Hi busybee :
You might like to check their respective websites to get a feel of the schools' culture (just as u would sourcing any prospective company to work in). From my understandg NTPS is newer comparedto QPS, thus this year it took away a fair share of the P1 registrants from QPS.

Hmm... I chose QPS cz the values, themes and curriculum that the school has seems to be in line with what DS likes. QPS aim to develop a niche in science, maths and aesthetics (if i remember correctly) and they won quite a number of awards past years. They are quite ok PSLE grade-wise. Also they hv CCA like drama, robotics and swimming. Again, things that DS will enjoy 😉

Hope these brief points will help.

oops, i think i shld clarify.... NTPS is newer in terms of building...

NTPS is reopening at Tanglin Halt merging with another primary school i think... So nt sure what the effect of the merge, if any, might bt on the standard of the new school but the old NTPS is really nt bad - grade wise, i heard 😄

I think documents most likely Passport, NRIC, EP, S Pass for both the parents. The child either is the passport & birth cert from the country of origin. 😉

Yes it is 1st come 1st serve so maybe go quene up early like 6am outside the General Office. 🙏

Both QPS & NTPS are equally good as they offer single session
. In terms of building, defintely NTPS is newer as compare with QPS.

                      Hi thebusybee!

Documents to bring for registration in Phase 3, as extracted from MOE website:

                      The child’s Birth Certificate.
The child’s Passport and Dependant Pass (if applicable).
                      Parents’ travel document/Singapore NRIC/Entry or Re-entry Permit/Employment Pass/Work Permit.

In addition, you need to bring the http://www.moe.gov.sg/education/admissions/primary-one-registration/files/p1-authorise-proxy-form.pdf if you are the one applying on the parents' behalf.

Actually, you can find the information in MOE's website, all within the P1 Registration section.
