Hi Parents,
Any parents whom have kids already studying in NVPS?
May I know how the "Reggio Emilia Approach" bridge into the academic part of the Singapore Educational system? Becos, afterall when our kids reached P6 they are sitting for PSLE which are more academic written papers rather than projects based.
I tried to search but understand that this school don’t have any PSLE past results yet.
Currently I am planning to send my son to NVPS for P1 2012. Pls help to clear my doubts. -
GH272,
I guess no one can answer ur question unless PSLE result is out this year. P did attempt to answer this question at the Q&A saying that they base on MOE curriculum but use reggio instead of drilling method.
I’m also registering my son next wk. I guess parents r in the best position to guage if the system works for the child. Hope to see u at the orientation -
Hi I'm registering my boy next week too... See u all! And I agree, us as parents we will know better wats suit our kids. Jus to share, my boy is a rather \"rigid \" boy for his age. always too serious wif his teachers' words. My teacher say must this.... My teacher say must that..... So im quite worried he become a \"drilled student\" type. I hv seen his creative side esp at play when he's relax. I hope he learn to open his mind & heart at study/work too..... Tis school will or will not serve my intention, I dunno now but I hope to try and find out....

mummyZZ,
wow, ur son is not rigid but follow instruction right? In reggio, teachers are the facilitators. They will guide the students to think & explore & further research. My son doesn’t like to be told what to do. I always suggest something & he’ll go what about this. Then he does what he want. It’s impt to train children to think & make judgement for themselves & I’m sure NVPS will give him room to further his potential.
192 vacancies. Good luck to all! -
this is the video clip i did for my daughter class (P1)when we went to the desaru tour.(Learning journey). As of today , my view on this school still positive.Heaps of chance to learn with the kids.

Thanks Royal for sharing. I’ve reg online for NVPS & waiting eagerly to start our learning journey next year.
What’s ur view on reggio & can u see the difference between traditional drilling style of teaching which "prepares students for PSLE"? -
hi wan , the only comment is we shall wait for this/next year their pioneer batch of
P6 results.I think generally the school is trying to groom all the kids holistically in term of deepen their thinking skills through group projects and exploration (learning journey).Hope all turn out well for all the students in this school and my gal too!
To add on :i observe lots of foreign students from china , india, korean etcs…soon Philippines.Do pm mi if i can assist you in anyway ,but bear in mind my gal is only P1 this year.
cheers. -
Hi Royal, at P1 d u see ur girl building up her interest to acquire new knowledge? In her daily life, is she interested in the environment around her (out of sch)? Does she spend alot of time in front of netbook? Does she type more than write?
I’m trying to prepare my son for the new system. I think teaching method from K2 to P1 is quite similar, except there is use of ICT. I have spoken to my son’s P that students transit to pri sch quite well. -
hi wan,
-P1 d u see ur girl building up her interest to acquire new knowledge?
maybe they learn what they see.as they are still more visual kids.
