Dear experienced members and parents,

What are the chances for a girl with 260 applying for RGS?

I think your chances are fair. I wouldn't stick my neck out to say she would definitely get in because last year's COP was 260 and she's right at the borderline. I expect COPs for the top schools to remain about the same this year as last year. Anyway if you put RGS as first choice and she doesn't get in, she'll definitely get into her second choice, provided it's not NYGH. šŸ˜‰

thanks

I doubt anyone here has the magic ball to advise u. It really depends on who is ahead of u in the queue and u will never know until u join the Q. šŸ˜„

A foolish question: who know the percentage of each score slot?eg: >270, 260-270, 250-260, etc
hi BlurDad,

i had helped you pose your 2 questions to the HCI presenter.
here is his reply:-

a) if a child has already accepted a DSA offer from ACS (I) - there is no chance for an appeal according to MOE regulations.

b) a T-score of 257+2 stands a very good chance of entering HCI.
BUT he must place HCI as first choice in the S1 option form.

Hi phtthp

Thank you very for your help.

I guess, my DS would not have any chance appeal to HCI. As he was already accepted by ACS(I) via DSA. For RI, with T-Socre 256, I guess it is almost impossible.

Will ask my DS to accept the reality and encourage him to work hard in ACS(I).

Blur Dad, have you personally approached HCI to RI ? May be you should no harm give it a try.
Have checked with HCI, no chance at all as my DS has already accepted by ACS(I) via DSA and T-score below last year COP. Last year COP was 257.

Checked with RI, standard answer, everyone are welcome to submit the application via the Supplementary Intake, regardless what is T-score, with or without S1 option form. They will review case by case and look for someone who has special talent. So already submitted application via \"Supplementary Intake\".

believed to be as follows :

Top 10% = 250 and above (entry point for many IP schools or to-be IP schools)
---about 4500 kids

Top 3 % = 260 and above (bench mark for EESIS)
---about 1350 included in the 4500 above

so, if you look at HCI+NYGH+RGS+RI = 1800 vacancies...and not all above 260 will choose any of the the top 4 ...... hence the cop for the top four should be around 260 and difficult to be much higher except for the odd one with affiliation but then the number of girls from NYPS with scores above 250 is about 100 only

235 about 66%-ile
250 about 90%-ile
265 about top 1-2%

The T-score is nothing but the normal distribution. Sorry I was just too lazy to go and crunch the numbers to precision, it is about there lah.

Good analysis. One additional data point is that approximately 50% of the above 1800 vacancies have already been taken up during DSA. I would estimate that 70% to 80% of those DSAed into these 4 schools have PSLE scores around or above 260. What is your take?
