Oh, the sch did not inform parents. It was found out by one of the parents after the final yr exam. When asked the teacher, teacher replied that in the class therer were some slower learner so they didn’t teach the higher chinese part. And check with other class, then we realised only the top two class were taught the higher chinese part. So pri 3 parents please take note, check your child work.

OIC. A few question in my mind.

        1) How to identify whether a child has learn higher chinese in school?

        2) If only the top 2 class learn higher chinese in P3, how is the teacher going to set the paper? All P3 class take the same chinese exam right? I know P5, higher chinese is 1 subject and normal chinese is another subject. Hence, if a student take higher chinese, they will need to take 2 chinese paper exam.

        3) I only know in end of P4, only those who are able to get high Band 2 & above for all subject than can opt to take higher chinese in P5. Mostly those are the student in the top 3 best class. The rest will than take normal chinese in P5 onward. All this in the mid year of P4, the principle will brief all the P4 parent and explain the logic. If by end of P5, the student cannot score well in all subject and a minimum of 75 for higher chinese, than they have to drop the higher chinese in P6.

          1. In the txtbk, there is a part called sheng guang after each chapter, that is the higher chinese part.

          2. For exam, higher chinese is not tested according to the teacher.

          3. At the end of pri 4, sch will ask them to drop higer chinese even with good result, reason they are lagged behind already and might not cope with other subjects. This is what some parents said.

Overheard gossip over the higher chinese not offered to some classes too… new principal pushing up the standard??? Anyway, I also don’t quite agree as in the 1st class, this is a SAP school and if HIPS is the COE (Chinese), then the school should put more efforts to ensure that all kids are able to master Chinese well… else, kinda of defeat having child in SAP school right???

Btw, anyway can advice which CCA is the school strong in?

Hi sorry I beg to differ. For my understanding hcl and cl textbooks are completely different. Both cl and hcl also have shen guang ke. But completely different if using hcl text book...
