I second that suggestion... parents should have the contact numbers or emails of the teachers.... The school should give some basic instructiuons/directions to all teachers pertaining to teacher-parent interaction.Totally agreed w Aggie that it is individual's practice. We were even given the FT's mobile no last year so that we can raise any concerns or make clarifications easily w the FT.
This year my DS is P3, the FT did not give us her school email account nor her ext no and didn't even introduce herself to the parents (which the CL teacher did via a memo to parents). I understd that she is new PCPS so maybe dun what to do. I think such practice should be standarised within the school. We parents should at least get the basic contact such as email address and ext no.
The time table given to the kids have the contact infos.... did you miss that out? -
My son was made to copy his timetable into his diary unlike last year, they were handed out the hardcopy.
Anyway, I have written a note to the FT on basic teacher-parent communication info. Shall wait for her response. -
Hi Parents,
I am new to this thread and also quite new to this forum site too.
My gal just entered P1 this year.
I have a few questions that I hope anyone of you can help me answer.
1) My gal has not got any time-table yet. Hopefully she will get it today when she is back. Does anyone with P1 children here has any info on time-table?
2) How is communication with teachers like? Through email? Or better through the blue notebook? Do the teachers respond quickly?
3) I realize that Pei Chun canteen doesn't serve very nutritious food as opposed to what I have heard that nowadays primary sch canteens serve non-fried food and very health conscious food. But we have noticed that they sell roti prata, fried nuggets, fish balls, and the noodle soup does not have a single vege, and chicken rice has no cucumber. Why is that so? Does anyone has any feedback on this?
4) Is Friday a designated PE day? So every Friday, students have to wear PE tee and shorts to school? No need to bring any skirt and blouse?
Paiseh.. I have asked so many questions.
Appreciate if anyone can enlighten this suaku parent

My DS is in P2 so I really cannot help on (1) but I thk by now, they shd hv the timetable... if not, you can check with the teacher via phonecall/email.
As you can read from the previous pages, different form teachers work differently - some diligently update the parents with daily emails whereas some (like my DS's) do not at all.
Unlike Kindergarten/Childcare whereby we parents always seek / obtain constant feedback from the teachers on our kids on their learning progress, how they behave in sch, their eating etc etc, in Pri Sch, with such a huge no of students and many duties to perform, most teachers cant afford the time/energy to do much updates to us parents.
PE lessons depend on your kid's timetable, normally they have PE twice a week and they are usually different from other classes. -

Yes can write down your questions in Pupil's Diary. Different teachers have different responding time so if you wish to get faster response, you may wish to call the teacher directly at their extension.
I am easy with canteen food... Although it might not be the so-called \"ideal\" food but I have no issues.
Every class has different PE lessons on different days. 2 x a week and they are allowed to just wear PE attire on the designated days... -
Hi Ilovechubby and Callie,
Thanks for the wonderful advice. So now I know PE lessons are conducted twice a week. I thought it was only on Friday. My gal still have not got any time table, but she told me she would be getting today. I shall wait for it then.
I read from the earlier responses, there seem to be some designated fruit day? I am totally unaware of that. What happens on fruit day?
Another qn: do all pupils need to wear the collar pin? This collar pin was bought together in a package as part of the booklist.
I am so glad I join this forum and thread! Else, I would not have known many ongoings..

We are here to share and exchange info... so feel free to post any questions and if we know the answers, we are more than willing to help!
According to my knowledge, Thursday is the fruit day. It is to encourage and cultivate good habits of taking fruits regularly... Kids are to bring fruits and eat during recess time, together with the FT. Pack unpeeled banana, apples or pears, or grapes or strawberries for your kid to bring to school.
My girl used to wear the collar pin for a few months... she doesn't wear it anymore and apparently it's ok... so I guess it is not compulsary to wear that. -
Hi Callie,
Thank you!
My gal brought back her time-table yesterday. Her PE lessons are on Wed and Fri.
For Fruits Day, she was unaware of it. So I shall wait for her to come back and tell me to pack fruits once she is informed
