Your kid in P2?
I refrain from teaching my P1 kid too many Maths theory now... In case the school teach differently now.
I think must be \"on the ball\" to reinforce what was taught in sch.
:slapshead:[/quote]
Yes P2, can forget about advance teaching the kids since even the textbook method is not being used... -

I think it is good to open to different methods. Eg. Some children cannot visualize the \"make ten\" and \"split ten and ones\". My daughter can only do the normal addition/substraction (they called it inchworm) . I try to teach the so called grasshopper method :), but she cannot get it and often cannot fill in the blanks after the \"split of numbers\". -

My girl who was P1 last year had MAs too... so i think it's for everybody....Yes I remember last year they gave a topics to be tested. Hopefully they will give this year too... Chinese AA is next week...any1 knows whether there is English AA this term or next term?
I also find it funny that only p2 and p6 have term 1 ma and ca. seems like the rest of the standards do not have. -

Actually I have never been impressed with PCPS's way of communication with parents... I think it is very very lag compared to many other schools... This year, it is worst!I think generally the communication process has deteriorated quite a lot at PCPS.
For e.g. last year, the MA dates and topics to be tested were provided way in advance when my girl in P1...spelling and tingxie dates were also spelt out clearly to facilitate revision.
The upcoming MA is beginning 27 Feb but we have yet to be informed of the scope/ topics! for my girl's tingxie, there is no date provided now so we are not sure when to revise, ask her also dunno/unsure...suddenly now every thursday is \"exercise day\"...must wear PE attire (in addition to PE lessons on tue and fri), for this also no PN...all these sounds trivial maybe but I can't help comparing against last year...New principal = new processes??? They need to improve la.
However, this year the communication between my girl's FT and parents is very very very good!! She writes 2 times a week to update us on what has been going on in class and some other relevant school info. Never heard anything from the Chinese Teacher/ Music/Art/PE teachers though.... -
hi, my gal in PCPS-P4, she has erhu on monday, volleyball on wed, (next term, sch enrichment on thurs), HCL on friday, Sat volleyball +erhu (extra practice, getting ready for SYF), is it too tiring for her. My hubby keep asking her to quit one of the cca. any suggestions? somemore, this year streaming for P5 class.

My girl has the same kind of schedule, she is in P3. So far she is coping and studies not affected. I guess if the child is happy and not feeling the strain, studies not affected, I think it’s ok.

Sounds stressful... Your kid still got time to play toys?
My P1 dd already has less time to play toys... So sad

My daughter still has time to play. No subject tuition. Only "extra lessons" are swimming, art (once a fortnight) and piano (which I give her). Weekend afternoons are free for outdoor activities most of the time.

Less play time better than no play time. Its also to teach them to relax n manage stress.
