Just wanted to clarify on the PTM.
There are 2 letters being circulated:
1). A letter from the teacher(s) requesting to meet the parents
2). A letter for the parent IF they want to meet the teacher(s)
The difference between (1) and (2) is that the latter is more voluntary from parents and optional, and usually these pupils are doing well in class.
For (1), the pupils might be weaker or borderline, so the teacher(s) would like to meet the parents. If I am not wrong, there is a 2-hour block reserved for (1) and (2) respectively. So parents only see a 2-hour block, but the teacher(s) are meeting parents for a full 4 hours.
I would suggest that parents who fall into (1) to meet up with the teacher, and if parents in (2) fail to book a slot, please email the teacher(s) and request for them to call back. They usually do and you can still discuss the matter over the phone.
I suspect the teachers are a little less responsive on Monday and Tuesday this week because they are out on the Malacca trip with all the P6 pupils. It is a huge outing for 10 classes of P6 so many teachers are involve. Please give them some leeway to respond.
P.S. I am not a teacher but a parent as well. -

It's ok lah, didn't meet any of DS' P2 teacher last yr too.smurf28:
I reckon maybe is only cater for Max 11 parents for term 1? Cause usually for other schools PTM are conducted twice a year, just my guessing...
I think I will call up the school again tomorrow to clarify. No reply from my child's FT since my email to her on Mon. Not sure whether teachers are also having holiday for a week. I think I will email to principal. :stompfeet:
If the PTM is only cater for 11 parents then it is unfair for the other 19 parents. May I know whether yr child is in Pr1 too?
Not nec to meet the teachers if no major issue, else only just go there, wait for turn & chit-chat abit w the teacher. We've been skipping PTM after P1 mid-yr.
Can always contact them via phone, emails & notes etc as & when nec.
Actually, I'm quite surprised that Term 1 also hv PTM this yr. -
Hi BlueBells & Vevey, thks for yr comments. At least I’m feeling better after reading yr posting. Since this is our first PTM, feeling kancheong and also disappointment that we are unable to meet up with the teachers.
No choice lah, maybe next time need to be more kiasu a bit. -
Hi Ectanz, Actually Vevey is right. PTM is not compulsory. Used to be in term 2 & term 4 only & not limited to 11 parents only. Parents used to see their child’s form teacher only. It is not easy to book a subject teacher if he/she is also a form teacher of another class. Most parents will choose to book the form teacher if they do not know which teacher to choose. I think PTM should held over 2 days.
I have a P6 boy & P1 girl. I don’t see my boy’s teachers every term or every year. In fact, his last year form teacher only saw parents of those who did poorly in their exam. I am a stay at home mum, I could go down to see the teacher if necessary. For a working mum to apply leave just to see the teacher for 10 mins, might not be necessary, unless she has a concern. -

Hi mummy so kiasu, thks fr yr comment. My child's FT replied my email and she can arrange to meet me and DH another day after PTM since her time slot was full on 23rd. However I was puzzled that why my child's class was allocated only 1 teacher for PTM and whereas the other classes are having 2 or 3 teachers. I am not sure whether this is due to my child's class is multi racial :? .Hi Ectanz, Actually Vevey is right. PTM is not compulsory. Since this PTM is not compulsory (initially I tot is compulsory), then I will not be so kancheong if I am unable to book a time slot for either of her teacher. -
U r welcome, ectanz!

Actually, it's great that ur child's FT ok to meet u on another day, less of a \" production line\". Hahaha.. -
Can mummies who have P6 kids advice me on this? Do the kids need to go back to school during their June holidays? Which period & how long will it be? Planning of sending my boy to holidays programme before the PSLE.
:thankyou: -
Hi Ectanz, At last you get to meet the FT. This must be your first child & first PTM, or else you will not be so kancheong. My girl is in 1E & their English teacher is not on the list. I can only booked the Chinese teacher since all the FT's slots have been taken up. I guess you only have one teacher on the list is due to the FT takes the class for both English & Maths. Just like me, don't know why the English teacher is not on the list.

Hi, my girl given 3 teachers to choose and yet i can’t get a slot for PTM. i will just skip this time round.

Ya, u r right. My child's FT takes on English and Math. Beside these two subjects, she also in-charge of their other subjects such as social studies and FTGP. Not easy to be a lower Pri teacher. Juz heard fr my child that her Chinese teacher was in China for whole wk. This might be the reason why she is not in the PTM list.Hi Ectanz, At last you get to meet the FT.
