Hamsters for kids (and parents)
-
With the human genome been mapped and effort to identify the disease causing genes, people may be deprived of buying health insurance that covers those illnesses that their genes deemed susceptible to. I won’t want my kid to be scanned for those in their genes

Hi,
My son has been asking for a pet. He has been asking for a dog or rabbit or hamster. As having a pet is a great responsibility and we definitely do not want any pet to suffer or worst die under his care. As such I am wondering if there is any rent-a-pet service in Singapore which allow the child to experience how is it like to look after a pet before committing to it long term. Anyone know one around? -

Don't know any rent-a-pet services. But my child had a class pet which meant the responsibility was shared with a whole class of children. They had quite a bit of fun. Of course you'll need to ask the class teacher and the school. Not all schools would allow it. But pets can help children understand responsibility.Hi,

i’ve been asked for hamsters too…
but people recommend Chin Chillas or something… supposed to be not so smelly -
initially i was relunctant to let 6 yo dd to own a pet, after constant bugging, i gave in, got 2 hamsters for her and she will play with them until one escaped from home, which is good as the hamsters fight among themselves and caused lots of noise in the night.
now left with one, she loves cuddling it and play with it everyday
