Just to share with parents here – not much homework, eg. my girl only has 1 problem sum question for homework last week.

But not sure is it due to the speed of the student… probably my girl finish work faster in class, so less homework ; P

Hi, my girl is with the amk branch. i only know they just opened the toa payoh branch not too long ago thats all πŸ™‚ but i understand all teachers are trained at marine parade centre before being \"deployed\" out to other centres.. So i think the teacher standard should not deviate too much.

I do not know which level your kid is in but if you are really interested in the toa payoh branch, you could make appointment to talk to the centre manager to learn more about their programmes and see whether its suitable πŸ™‚

              Hello mummies,

I am looking for maths enrichment centre for my N2 girl. I cant seem to decide on Mighty math (not sure what level classes start from), JEI / PSLE Math (Classes from N1), Mighty math, Maths Hub (Classes from K1) or even MPM (Classes from K1).

My daughter attends a montessori school. So other than what she does at school, i dont do anything about maths with her. Can anyone advice what is should be looking for an a math enrichment? I am not too keen on abacus. what’s more important is understanding math concepts, rather than the speed. I know that abacus helps in other things like concentration, right brain development.

Can anyone here advice me on the pros and cons of the math enrichment centres i have short-listed? Thanks!

Is Marine Parade their main branch? My friend wants to join the main branch only.

Yep, Marine Parade their main branch. Jason, their programme manager is based there. Today, Jason shared with me what their coming select paper for P5 and P6. They had selected a spread of different topics from 2011 top school papers and compile them into one paper. His reason was many students is unlikely to complete all the top school papers before SA1. Its more efficient for the student to revise if the centre select the good questions from various school and put them into one paper. I think that makes alot of sense. Good Job!

                      Hi Pixy,

I can share with you the advantages of MPM and JEI.

                      Advantages
                      ----------
MPM - known for critical thinking questions and its spiral learning model.
JEI - IB based syllabus so will be relevant for P1. Also known for its customised programme based on child's weaknesses.

                      Disadvantages
                      ------------
MPM - Most stupid thing about this programme is we can't take the books home. So no way we can revise with the kids or monitor closely what our kids are doing.
JEI - They could have use more manipiulatives for preschool children. They use primarily blocks as manipulatives. Similar to those use in Primary 1.

                      Finally,

If you looking for enrichment, I recommend MPM.
If you looking for relevance to MOE, I recommend JEI

In this coming SA1 all P5 and P6 students will be tested on Ratio. One of the commonly tested type of ratio question is one that involves "All Element Change". We have posted a video link on our Facebook page that explain in detail the mechanics of solving this type of question. We strongly encourage all P5 and P6 students to watch this video and understand the mechanics before SA1.

All the best to all our students, work hard, study smart and do your best in SA1!
