halo augmun
yeah, think if they are charging for enrichment courses as well, then i will give it a miss. as it is, the school fees itself is a killer

Hi bluerotiHi flower power
yes, I went to the pat's and hampton's. actually, i was undecided if i should send my girl to pat's or hampton's but i was more inclined towards the latter coz' it's so much cheaper than pat's. however, after attending the hampton's open house on Sat, I didn't have very good vibes largely coz' the 2 teachers (they are fr eton house but not sure if they'll be teaching there) I spoke to didn't seem very familiar with the curriculum. But to be fair, don't think they had much time to prepare for the opening of hampton centre, judging by the not so comprehensive website, the revised registration form that they want us to fill again a few days before the opening, the guy we spoke to while registering also couldn't answer my qn etc. perhaps my expectations is kinda high coz' it's eton house.
and another major reason why i don't feel very comfy with hampton's is that i dun see the teachers interacting with the kids save for the chinese teacher. to me, it's important that the teachers must like/luv kids.
but it's very different over at pat's. but then again, the principals fr the different centres were at the garden party so i guess you've the best there. plus they had activities eg. making pancakes, paper glasses, music lesson for the kids and u see the teachers talking to the kids, playing with them etc. we spoke to 2 principals and Pat her self and you can tell that they're all pretty similar and aligned in their thinking. but the 2 principals have been around for more than 15 yrs so they're pretty experienced.... and of coz' the campus is bigger and nicer. but for this new campus, it'll be staffed by some teachers fr other centres and some new centres. so guess we wouldn't know if the teachers are good till we try.
i had a discussion with my hubby and he said all things being equal, he will go for Pat's any time. but right now, pat's school fees is really pretty ex. so we've not really decided. plus we're not even sure if we will get a place at hampton's coz' we dun live in bishan east neither are we part of bishan GRC. so guess we'll juz have to wait for the balloting results this week.
end of the day, every parent has different expectations and the 2 teaches i spoke to hampton's may not be reflective of what to expect. wow, juz realised my post is super long!
Really appreciate your post. It has reaffirmed my observations/perceptions. I agree totally that between the 2 schools, I will go for Pats. And the reason why we are not there is because of the next door impending construction devpt. As for Hampton, I also visited the location once it was in the news. It was still in renovation. Nothing much to see at that time. However, one thing that I do not like about Hampton is that they mass email to all parents to ask for the completion of registration forms and others forms etc to reach them by a certain date, otherwise they will assume that we are not interested to register. But, how do we know if we would want to register or not even before attending their open house and find out more about their curriculum etc - not forgetting that this is the first PCF run by Eton, surely we want to know more before jumping on board. I find that a little high handed. Plus I read at the forum that there was a mass walk out at one of the Etonhouse schools earlier this year. Hence, I decided not to go even the Openhouse as I presume 2010 is the first year for the school and they could be still trying to find an equilibrium.
Hence my son got his wish, to stay put at his beloved kindy - MMK. -
Hi flower power
oh, I didn’t know there’s a mass walkout fr eton schoolhouse. i didn’t manage to find threads on eton house when i was doing my research earlier. can u share with me the link?
i guess there’s an overwhelming response so the eton house/PCF folks probably can’t cope and did a mass email. i juz feel that they are not ready yet, and this is the 1st school so i m expecting there will be some hiccups.
and yes, the pat’s whitley campus is not completed yet. it will only be done in mid-Jan if I remember correctly what I was told last Sat.
btw, what is MMK? -
Hi blueroti
I read about the mass walkout at another forum when searching on etonhouse. Here's the link where I read about it but it was not in full details as it was just part of the mommy's update to friends http://www.singaporemotherhood.com/forumboard/messages/353638/1871751.html?1226365481
MMK is Marymount Kindergarten where my son is having classes since 3yo. The reason why I am looking at full day care for him is that we will be having a new baby next month. Therefore, I am afraid the helper cannot cope with 1 kid and a baby at home next year. Otherwise, my son is very happy at MMK. -
Hi Flower Power
Wow! the mommy sure sounds angry! wonder what happened…
anyway, I called marymount abt a month back but they said they were full. and their classes are only for 3 hrs so actually I prefer that coz my in laws will still be able to spend more time with my girl after school. For Pat’s, it makes more sense to go for the full-day class coz’ of the subsidy. -
Hi all,
Anyone has any experience with Pat’s schoolhouse, how is it? -
Pat’s Schoolhouse recently opened one at Jubilee Park. I was very impressed to see the outdoor physical environment that they had. It’s extremely expansive and allows much hands-on activities and exploration for the children.

Hi All
I have been searching for comments about Pat School House at Lim Ah Ping (Serangoon) but could not find any. Most of the comments are referring to Halifax branch.
My hubby and myself have visited the school at Serangoon branch. The building is pretty old and most of the classrooms are non- aircondition. If anyone has the experience with school there, please share with us…Many thanks. -
Hi
I’m also keen to gather more feedback for Pat’s at Lim Ah Pin Road. Thinking of sending my coming to 18-mth old boy next year. Any feedback is greatly appreciated. -
