So why not issue apology thru our papers?

does not matter via weibo or PM office, singaporeans got it immediately

so what is your problem with weibo ? foreigners in SG cannot use weibo meh ? why we use facebook, linkedin, gmail, hotmail, etc ? by the way, singnet and starhub are usually treated as virus mails in US companies' email server

after facebook, weibo and QQ has the second/3rd most number of users in the world, like it or not

at first, lots of people kpkb it was PRC national who casued the accident and say all sorts of thing

then the Chinese embassy acting beyond protocol to issue apologies and remind PRC nationals to abide by host countries’ law

then people kpkb no apologies from the widow …

now apologies issued, broadcoast over channel 8 prime time news some more, still kpkb it was issued via weibo …

may be, may be, as some one said before, may be, we need to go reflect

Aiyoh, no problem with weibo. :slapshead:

My thought is since happened in Singapore and involved Singaporeans and the local papers is a better place to issue apology rather then thru weibo.

Nothing against weibo, facebook, gmail or whatsoever......

China people are already at the tip-top ranking board of creating food and displaying it as food from another country that produces top quality stuff.

The other day I went to 7-Eleven to buy a bowl of instant noodles, I saw one with a smattering of Korean words on top with even the right meaning (Ddukbaekki Ramyeon) (which means Korean spicy white cabbage ramen). Then I went to pay for it.

To my horror, when I reached home and took the bowl of instant noodles out and read the packaging, there it wrote in Chinese hidden in a tiny small corner: "制造商:上海朱市会社" and I went like… ".__. Crap…"

The other day I went to NTUC Xtra (the one at AMK Hub). There were boxes of pears on sale. It’s those kind of golden round crunchy pear, not those green starchy type. On the plastic packaging there was a Japanese statement. It’s not until I looked up at the signboard did I notice it was made in China.

Should be more aware some times.

Some companies whose products have been made in China specially make arrangements for their products to be packaged in another country and not China. So sometimes even when we eat things that are stated Made in America, they might be made in China.

I used to buy those bars of Hershey’s chocolate and Vanhouten chocolate from NTUC. Recently of late, somehow Hershey’s and Vanhouten have changed from "Made in America" to "Made in the PR of China".

Moreover the sentence "Made in PR of China" is hidden behind one strap of plastic wrap. You have to flip the plastic wrap open to see the tiny words there

Heard of Taiwan 228? They also go through a long period before they are what they are now.

I had a Taiwanese colleague who look down on South east Asian countries including Singapore totally. But she is a nice lady as a friend. I saw how dramatic and chaotic taiwanese can be - and never have good impression of them until I visited the place not too long ago and found most of the people there are nice and helpful.
I used to be quite biase against mainland Chinese. Until I visited the country and again found most of the folks there to be nice and helpful. Some simple folks even warned us of how sly and cunning some of their fellow people are, and they too fall victim to them.
I used to believe most of the westerners agree civilized and friendly, until I went to stay there for a year…
Sometimes I feel paiseh to admit I am Singaporean when I saw how our own people behave overseas, and I am sure at times I made them feel ashame of me too.
It’s the individual that matters, not the nationality.
