All about charity organisation

Hi.

Will like to hear your views on donations to charity organisations.
After the NKF and Ren Ci saga, will you still donate generously to the charity organisations as before?
Or you will be thinking if your money will go to the right uses?

If we don’t donate the folk who are in need will not be receiving anything. For society to function well, it behooves the well-endowed to be generous in supporting the less fortunate. The rate of charitable giving in Singapore is dismal compared to Western climes. My philosophy is that I need to do my part, and hope that the others in the chain, including regulatory agencies, do theirs.

If you are keen to donate but want to see the money put in good use, donate in kind, rather than money. Eg. donate a dialysis machine to NKF rather than donating a couple of thousand dollars, donate bags of rice to the old folks and even help to distribute them, rather than just writing a cheque to the whatever organisation. You can ask the charitable organisations you have in mind their needs and donate in good and services to them.

That's a good idea. :idea:
But to donate a dialysis machine seems very expensive and not affordable.
I do agree that there are needy out there who needs our donations, but with the recent sagas, it is really diffcult to put one's mind at ease

I feel like I will scrutinise and examine their accounting statements, looking out for things like cost per beneficiary for level of impact achieved before deciding to donate, or not.
