Is Red Swastika a SAP School? Is it good? I’m an alumni but not sure if I should do parents volunteer for other "branded schools" or just save the trouble to send my boy to Red Swastika.

Higher Chinese is offered at p1. I'm also an alumni. Some things to consider, would you rather secure a place at stage 2a or volunteer abt 80 hrs to secure a priority to register (not guaranteed to have a place). Or worse leave things as it is at stage 2c. You'll be surprised that some neighbourhood schools need balloting too.
Do your homework early and calculate the risk. For me, I've chosen to register at stage 2a. It saves me the hassle and furthermore RSS is quite a good school in the east area.

          Hi

I’m also an alumni and will be registering my gal for 2014 Primary 1.

After weighing my pros and cons, I have decided to move back to Bedok as at least I will have a secure place despite the hassle of the move.

But now my headache is looking for a after school care centre.

Please kindly advise or comment if your child went to a after school care centre in Bedok.

          Thank you.

            Hi Kelsy,

Appreciated your views. It has helped me to decide and just paid $150 one time alumini registration fee, 80 hours definitely worth more than $150 so it is super worth it.

My son shall go to RSS in 2015 despite the long journey from my current place, Woodlands to Bedok…i have to ferry him to and forth. At least i can secure a place for him in a good school.

Wow, woodlands to bedok ? Well, I have no doubt RSS is a good school, but the distance is kind of far, very far indeed. Do think twice… JMHO

Bedok to Woodlands extremely far !

your poor young son at P1 cannot tahan. Is too far.

don’t think got school bus fetch kids from Bedok to Woodlands.
even if you drive - one way itself make you very tired, not to mention both ways.
seriously need to re-consider. Shift down nearer to RSS.

Anyone read about the school bully in our school in \" Wan Bao \" Yesterday ? Wonder which P6 class is he in ? Apparently, per the report, this boy has been a regular terror. Hope the school takes serious action against him. School Bully ? I definitely condone against such barbaric behaviour :nunchuk:

And DS said the principal din even breathe a single word during assembly. I thought the principal should alert the kids about school bully, and at the same time tell the school bullies (who had yet to surface up) to think about the consequences. In the case that was featured, the case has been reported to the police. Not sure how the police would take the case, but heard from someone that once police is in the picture, the school wont do anything to the bully .. hopefully there wont be anymore ard..

Just curious, what was the bully incidence about? I missed the newspaper report

Cannot really remember, think a P6 boy was going around pushing and shoving the younger kids around. However, I did not hear it from the school, but from the newspaper report. The beauty of this school is they do not condone any child. All children are given equal opportunity to shine and that explains why they do not stream students till P5 level. :hugs:

                      Hi, mommybumblebee,

My younger boy is going in at 2015 too. It may be fully morning session by then. Woodlands to Bedok by car is very fast. Have you considered any contingency plans should any of you are unable to fetch? Like what others mention, the distance can kill. Do not forget that you have to make 4 trips a day. Consider shifting nearer. Tampines, Bedok, east coast, chai Chee and kembangan are all possible choices.

Was so glad to find out that there's no streaming till P5. Some children are late boomers. Really unfair to stream (打入冷宮) too early.
Also glad to find out that the P1 children are not allocated classes based on reading proficiency.
