Hi, my son’s on Pre-N next year. Do pre-N kids have to wear uniform?
When will the school inform us about orientation and getting uniforms?
2. I am pregnant with my second kid now. Does that mean, the sibling is auto entry to MMK? -
How are the meals provided in School ? Any advise to share?
-
If you miss the public registration for entry in 2013, what should be done? Put the name on wait list? Any chance of entering?

Hi Mummies,
Please be careful when putting your child in Teacher Barbara Nathan's class at Learning Vision,Grassroots Club. She is very harsh with the toddlers.i find her to be always in a hurry.her energy level is extremely low.i withdrew my son's name from her class just after spending 3 half day class recently.i only wish she shapes up...or shipped out :rotflmao:
Thanks! -
Hi, I’ll try my best to answer some of the questions posted earlier.
1. Yes, all MMK pupils are required to wear the school uniform (white and blue checked) and PE attire (colour-coded collarline - pink for Pre-N, green for N, etc. (about twice a week) on days they have water play or outdoor play, gym class etc.
2. Siblings of current pupils do get priority admission in that they are invited to register on an earlier date than the public registration date.
3. Pupils in the 1st (8.15 am) session have morning tea around late 8 plus am - includes sandwiches, biscuits, soft beancurd (tau hwey), cornflakes and milk depending on the day of the week.
I believe the 2nd session pupils have more substantial food (because of classes taking place during lunch hours). On a few occasions when I was held up and very late in fetching my son, his kind teacher let him sit in with the 2nd session pupils in the same classroom and have lunch while waiting for me (he had fried rice).
I mentioned enrolling my daughter in a childcare flexi hours program but it didn’t work out. She’s now in Julia Gabriel’s Playclub twice a week and much happier. Guess she’s not psychologically ready to be left alone in the care of outside caregivers. Aarghh, the logistical/ transportation nightmare (I’m the chauffeur in the family) but what to do? Less ‘me’ time but the kids’ welfare always come first. My mum laments that kids these days start school way too early. At 19 mths old, my daughter "still a BABY!". hehe…she does look like a baby doll coz of her petite build but when she opens her mouth and talks, sings or howls, everyone else gets such a shock.
Any MMK parent whose child is currently registering for P1 next year? All the best! Getting the jitters…can’t believe my son’s turn for registration is next year. So fast! Better hug and kiss your kids as much as you can before they grow older and push you away in embarrassment. -

Tks for reply. I also wondered if MMK take pictures of events at school and share with parents? -
zosma:
Yes, they do try to take pictures of the chidlren engaged in their class activities and excusrions of the different levels and paste them on the display board outside the office. I like that the school has a communication book where the teacher staples letters from the school regarding school events, termly curriculum, suggestions for parents to reinforce their children's learning at home and HFMD updates, etc. You can also write in the book to enquire about your child's progress from time to time. Very good 2 way communication, I feel. It helps that my son has had wonderful teachers.Power Puff

You can call and ask for your child to be on waiting list. Sometimes, a few children may withdraw from the school or a particular session at the last minute, freeing up the space for another pupil to enrol. The school may call you a few weeks before the start of the school year to confirm a place for your child, if there is any. -
Tks Power Puff
I was hoping they post pics on FB or Flick that is easily accessible by parents. Agree with you the teachers are responsible and updates communication book regularly and reply to my query very quickily too! -
No problem, zosma. Heehee..I don't know if the school is so tech savvy to go on Facebook or flick (what's that?!) but you can suggest to the principal Ms Fiona Kew. The school is quite 'old school' but that's the charm of it I suppose. Imagine the school still looks and feels the same 30 years since my younger brother graduated from there
Such a rare find. Love the place and surroundings. I wonder if the school's surroundings will be adversely affected by the upcoming Northsouth highway project? We may need to check with the P.
