hi, i'm a student from Ai Tong and i just got back my psle results: 267, +3 for higher chinese. my dilemma is this: i've always had my sights set on rgs, but recently i've been asking around and my friends suggest i should go to nygh. family, however, prefers me to go to rgs.

i've recently picked up tennis, so i wish to practice over the hols and join that (or netball) as a cca next year. from what i've heard, both schools have a very rigorous selection process for sport ccas. also, i am better at english, but i'm interested in sciences, humanities and chinese warfare. my friends have applied for nygh, and those who are going to rgs are those that i don't really like.

i'd like to consider some aspects of both schools: the students' personalities, the cca selections, overall school spirit, atmosphere of the school itself and the teachers in respective schools. it would be extremely helpful if i can get some insight from pupils' experiences in either schools.

      thanks! 🙂

(my mum is very likely reading this.)

Actually, I scored 285 in the 2009 PSLE . I would like to ask for your opinions. Should I go to Nanyang or Raffles ? Which school is better? ? :?

Your SD & Ave estimation is very close as compared to crazydad’s.
My girl’s actual score is 2 points diff if using your figures. If using crazydad’s figures, it is 30 points diff.

Wow! Congrats! Which primary school are you in, 南华 or 群立?

It depends on your CCA records, your liking of which schools, location, etc.

I don't know if it's a good school or not.

Anyhow, will discuss with my dad tonight, see what he says.
Hope he's not too disappointed with my results :?
But it should be okay since he only expects 200-210 from me 😉

                  P.S. I'm a girl 🙂

TKGS is a great school. My daughter grad last year. It's a band 1 school with L1R5 <11. Check out Annex 1A in the booklet 2.

Can anyone highlight why COP for TKGS is dropping every year. Girl in this thread also not sure about whether TKGS is good school!

May be time your daughter registered in S1 , it was good , is it still good school or a dying tradition!

                    hashroop:
i just got back from school. Very disappointed with my son's results..he got 179 . 2c and 2b. I dont feel like reading this thread anymore because i keep seeing \"oh ive got 230, or 240, or 260 etc etc..\" Im happy for the all those who have performed well but why couldnt one of them be my son. We sent him from tuiton A to tuiton B to tuiton C. Spent $$$. Burnt the midnite oil..Prayed and prayed but what is the end results???

Hope someone can feel what I am feeling now....
hashroop, I know how disappointed you must feel. But remember that your son is probably feeling even worse than yourself since it is his own results. This is the time where he needs more love than anything else in the world. Hug him, cry with him, and make him understand that you will always be there for him, no matter what.

an extract from the above asiaone article

The 2009 Primary six cohort is the first batch of pupils under Subject-based Banding who sat for the PSLE.

Subject-based Banding, a refinement to the previous streaming system, was implemented from the 2008 Primary 5 cohort to give pupils the flexibility of taking a mix of subjects at Standard or Foundation levels depending on their strengths and abilities in each subject.

any idea how does this work?
is it a combination of foundation & standard subjects to arrive at T-score?
if one student takes all standard subjects & the other a combination, how is the comparison done?

                      thanks for your advice 😄

                        cchho:
i think now the most import part is to get a school that fits the score last yr and pray that the child gets in to the first choice school.

Please, my girl got 229 i intent to put hai sing as first choice as i stay at tampines, any one can help, i don't know any thing abt that school.
                        Hi cchho,
I stay in Pasir Ris which is pretty near to Hai Sing. I see many HS students every morn when I go to work. They r basically quite well behaved and so far I have not seen any students misbehaving in public unlike some of the other neighbouring sec school (Smoking, hugging, hanging ard at the void deck) Hai Sing and Pasir Ris Crest has quite a good reputation in Pasir Ris. Hope it helps.
