How the balloting carry on? Computerized or manually. How to ensure our child name was  in the lists for balloting. Thanks

Balloting is done manually. Parents whose children are not picked would cry foul if the system were computerised.

Usually, a school management committee will be present for the balloting process to ensure that all the children's names are in order. Parents who attend the balloting are also invited to go through the slips of paper and help to ensure that every child's name is there.

What some schools do is, regardless of the outcome of the balloting, you will be sent a carbon copy of the application form that you completed during the registration. The form will indicate whether your child is successful or unsuccessful. It will also indicate the date and time of orientation.

Went for nyps alumni talk in June this year. From this year onwards, MOE requires all schools to use the lottery cage method where it comes to balloting. No more balloting slips used from now on.

how does the lottery cage work ?

is it like ... the cage roll and roll then a marble drop out ... means name of that child is in ?

can share which school(s) use lottery cage method ?
Accordingly to Zaobao after 2B balloting, all schools will standardize the balloting process, TOTO style. All involved kids will be assigned a number.
Once the numbered ball come out from the lottery cage, that number would mean the kid that matched the number got in.

After reading some of the posts there, i think we hv more constructive and meaning discussions here. SC or PR or FT, we are parents of the next generation, we ought to set good examples and be responsible for the words we use. :lovesite:

Kudos to Chief and team! :udaman: :udaman:

Btw, my girl got into IJ Katong (no need to ballot, no need for heartaches nor sweaty palms!)

                :celebrate:
                awval,

thanks for this post. I am also a PR. tho its disheartening to see comments about PR from \"3rd world countries\" like us... I just see it from their perspective... and try to understand. But to speak for myself and probably the many PRs who are reading this thread.. we do not come here to take the food that you are about to put in your mouth. we also work hard for it. and we accept whatever category you put us into, as long as it is not bordering insult or slavery. am glad that Kiasuparents are more level headed than other forumers..

anyway, if you know of any Singapore youth (physically limited who are attending mainstream college/university) and want to learn Microsoft applications such as Excel (which they can easily use in a real working environment), please call Bala of AWWA Teach ME Excel Programme... I am one of the volunteers..

so if you want to meet PRs like me, this volunteer programme is the best way to see us in action (not just taking from Singapore society but also giving back)...

PHPPS has been using this method since 2010 if not wrong. Believe they are one of the pioneers in using this balloting method.

No they're not. Singapore Pools was the pioneer. 😆

Was told by the staff I need not be present during balloting day . Sch wil call me if successful. I asked if my absence will forfeit my chance, she said ‘nope, there are many witnesses around’ .
