For me, I bought the set of Signing Times

Check out a sample of the video here:
      http://www.signingtime.com/product_info.php?cPath=27&products_id=59

They covers ABCs, various themes such as ZOO animals, Colours, Going to school. It may be meant to teach signing but the animation and songs are engaging and it covers quite a wide vocab and it is entertaining for both myself and my boy.

The series does not cover math or phoenics though so I a starting to look for suitable ones in that area. ...must check out the leapfrog series.

I highly recommend Leapfrog Talking words factory, it is the best video for learning phonics sounds. Don't need to send kids to expensive classes 😛 My kids have been watching the 5 Leapfrog DVDs for almost 2 years. Very good investment.
I have to agree with you that the Leapfrog Talking Words Factory is one of the best investments we've made... Bought the DVD plus the Leap pad etc when he was abt 2 yrs old.

He is attempting to read books designed for older kids now... When he gets stuck with a word... We will go... \"Every letter makes a sound...\" and makes him attempt to pronounce the word on his own... And we'll then correct it as and when required.

Anyway his Leap pad seem to be having some glitches recently after 2 over years of intensive use ... So may look into the iPen device that Chief mentioned in the earlier post above 😎

                Hi,

Just want to share a Math Software / Game which I get for my kids to play called Math Blaster. Got it from Popular Bookshop.

The software comes in for different age group.

The content is also quite good. My children enjoys playing at the same time learning!!!

Just got the following 2 vcds.

                  1) Mr Men in The Great Alphabet Hunt
I think it is more suitable for 3yrs and older and the animation and voices are not as animated/energetic as Leapfrog’s DVD. The lack of songs also makes the cd a bit boring.

                  2) Richard Scarry’s Best Counting Video ever
The kid’s voice as the main character is good as it captured my boy’s attention.

Yes... Richard Scarry's Best Counting Video is one of the best. Suitable for kids under 2years old. I'm not sure if Mr Men is so captivating, though.

Yes...My 2 yr old only like the part where they flash the letters. The 'hunt' itself where they went around finding related words, the tone of the narrator (Mr Clever) is somewhat boring. So i reckon it should be more suitable for 3 or 4 yr olds with longer attention span.
Since Richard Scarry's video is not costly (and with CKS' 'endorsement' 😛 ), think I'll probably get the whole series. 🙂

                        tamarind:

I bought 2 DVDs locally. Then bought 4 more in the Little Einsteins series from amazon. They teach a piece of classical music, introducing the composer's name, important landmarks in the world like the leaning tower of Pisa, Great wall of China, the Pyraminds of Egypt, etc, art, and even some musical notations (allegro, adagio, diminuendo, etc). Very educational.
My 2 yr old is now crazy over Little Einsteins, but there were only a few titles available locally - guess I have to get from amazon too. He only likes certain 'episodes' though.
