My brother has had difficulties in bringing his 5 year old son to the dentist the thing is, he has bee crying because of tooth aches for three days now. He brought him to a pediatric dentist once, but the kid just started to cry even louder. Do you have any suggestions?

I went to library to get a book relating to Going to a dentist and let my son read. He get an idea of the need to go for dentist to check up and the procedure. He had since been asking us when he goes to the dentist. Maybe you can try that and also get him to bring along one of his favourite toy that he can hold when he's at the dentist chair. 😄

Notice that quite a number of kids go thru the GA due to teeth problem…wondering is it really necessary to have it as Milk teeth normally will only last until 7-8 years old…

it is necessary as the decay teeths will actually cause gum infection, toothache & also spread to the surrounding tooth.

SDC is good. the dentist there is very patient & know the tactic to handle the kids.

My DS is too young (3yo) so is a long way to 7-8 yo… can’t bare to see his teeths decaying so trying to get it treated as soon as possible before lead to more serious condition.

offcourse i m scare & worry abt the GA thingy… but after reading up some facts on GA & assurance by the dentist, this is the little risk that i need to take for his sake.

my prince is being referred by SDC to NDC. 1st appointment will be consultation followed by the actual treatment on 2nd apptmt.

There are many cases of kids dental treatment under GA in NDC or KK… there are very min. risk involved as long as the kid is healthy at the point of the treatment. However, there are some side effect such as after the kid wake up, he may vomit, dazy etc… they will explain all these to you & you can ask all the question before going ahead with the treatment.

                    hquek:
I just called SDC to make appointment. Now earliest they can give is 11 Jan....figure i have to bring to private dental for my kid's fillings...dunno how can wait.

For normal cleaning, I think they're ok; but if there is any emergency work, still got to go private.

oh! SDC sell 'Happy brush' - it's 3 sided brush and very easy to use. only $2.50. I like it!
The waiting time in SDC is quite long, so at the end where did you bring your kids to?

Do you have any recomended Private Dental for kids?

my prince apptment for the treatment also need to wait till 27 Jan… meanwhile trying hard to prevent from further cravities.

I help him brush this teeths morning & night (apply protective mousse). He still using the "first tooth" paste as he refuse to use kids tooth paste with flouride. He dun like the minty & cooling taste… seems "spicy" for him… So dentist advise to mix the tooth paste with water to dilute the taste for him to rinse & brush.

Whenever i m with him, i will get him rinse his mouth after sweet stuffs like juice, sweet… Still very hard to get him off this milk bottle.
