        Hi,

I am trying to find 2-3 Sec 2 students from the west to form a Literature tuition group for my son. Iโ€™ve already identified a potential tutor at Stirling road, who has on-going Saturday class. However, the timing doesnโ€™t fit my sonโ€™s schedule on Saturdays. Looking for possibilities to form another class group on Sundays. The tutor charges $230 per month. Interested parents/students, pls. PM me. Alternatively, if you have other tutor to recommend for a small group class, kindly contact me as well. Thanks!

For Literature, one main thing is to remember PEEL.

          Point
          Evidence
          Elaborate
          Link

With my simple language skills, I scored 16 to 18 out of 25 for prose passage. So Literature is not difficult to score. Furthermore, it is a less tedious subject compared to Geography and History.

          Never give up :celebrate:

Haha I agree that Lit is easier than geog and history. I take pure lit and elect geog XD

              Hi Kandc,

It depends on which school your DS is going to. Sec schools use different Lit texts. I'm interested if it is relevant ๐Ÿ˜„

My son is with ACS(I) express. Starting from Jan 2013, the first book they are going to learn is \"The Merchant of Venice\". the tutor at Stirling road is a male tutor, center name is \"thinking place tuition\". You can call him at 91787633 for more info, and even a trial lesson with him. His current class on Saturdays 10-1130am has already 6-7 students, but problem is that the timing not fit my son's schedule. Prefer a slot on Sundays. Another tutor I got is a female, teaching from her home at Pine Grove Clementi area. Let me know if you are still keen. Thanks!

                  Hi Kandc,

I've spoken to the male tutor you mentioned. He's not really teaching Literature per se. More like a general English course for Sec 1 students teaching literacy styles. The students are from different schools. It's not what I am looking for. But thanks for telling me Kandc ๐Ÿ˜„

My son will also be in ACSI but he's doing Haroun and the Sea of Stories and Malgudi Days, so we can't combine too. I'm trying to persuade DS's P6 English tutor (a very excellent teacher) to continue teaching him next year, but then again, she teaches in small groups in learning centre, not 1-2-1. So got to look for some other students doing the same texts and she also wants them to be within a similar proficiency range.

Well..maybe we can meet some interested parents during orientation to form our groups.

                        Dear KaisuParents,

I'm a freshly graduated Hwa Chong student looking for some extra work and I've decided that since I'm passionate about the subject of Literature I don't want to let the subject go even having completed it at the A level standard. In other words, I would love to help out students who feel like they are struggling with the subject, or simply feel like they need someone to bounce ideas off of, or to offer them alternative perspectives of various texts. My tutoring method will be highly personalised and I am willing to fully analyse and interpret any text that your child is studying. I can also help in the interpretation of unseen prose/poetry/drama, essay writing/important exam skills, and can provide extra-curricular notes and readings.

Some of my accolades include: 100 percentile (first position) for H2 Literature and H2 Knowledge and Inquiry for Jc1 Promotional Exams and Jc2 Prelim exams. Also I did Literature at H3 Level in Jc2
I also have some paid experience tutoring A level Lit.

Call or Text 91520849, or reach me at my email address joelwongenjie@hotmail.com if interested!

                        Fees: $40-$50/hr

                        Humbly,
                        Joel Wong
