Do take note that when you signed up as a PSG for the first few days of school you may not or high chance you will not be assign to your kid's class.
I think their intent is to allow the kids to mix with their new friends and not cling on to their parents. However, as a volunteer, you will still be able to get fairly upclose with your kid during recess. They will block the canteen area so parents are not allowed to go in. Only PV can do so when helping out with the class. -

I know i am being very kiasu in asking this.. Do Maha Bodhi have Chinese new year celebration (combined session am and pm)? I am thinking that the celebration might be on 8/2 next year? kiasu as I must pre-apply leave months in advance due to my nature of work.. any one, TIA
:slapshead:
Yes, it's combine session when it comes to CNY and National Day celebration. Usually the kids just go to school for 2 hours. -

Yes, I agree with your observation as well. Maybe the neighbour's child did not focus in class and hence cannot finish the homework that's why he has so many homework every night? Only for P5 onwards then do my kid have so much homework. Even the P4 is manageable.... But again it depends on teachers.
Probably depends on the teacher. Both my p1 and p3 DS do not have much homework. For the P1, the teacher said that she prefer the children to do their work in class so that if she sees them doing incorrectly, she can correct them on the spot. For my p3, some days he finishes his homework in sch and some days he brings home 1 to 2 pieces of homework.Wolfgirl:
How is the amount of homework for P1?
Manageable?
I have a neighbour who says her son (MBS P2 now) has to work on HW from 8-10 every night. (That is so scary) -
Thanks for feedback about HW. I will always want to heed government advice: let the children have play time and enjoy their childhood.

Hi MMM,
Hi,journey:
Hi all,
I'm new here. I am a former MBS student, and would like to join the alumni. Would appreciate if anyone can advise the procedure and fee to join. Thank you.
Pls go to the enclosed link.

I recalled when I first joined, I joined as a ordinary member for a year and subsequently converted to life membership. You might want to call them to check out....
I recalled paying around $100? for life member 8 years back (when my dc1 is 2 years old). It does appear that the price has increased probably due to inflation. So good to join earlier than later.
Note that if you are using it for P1 registration, non-alumni falls under phase 2A2 while alumni falls under 2A1. With no change in regulations, 2A2 is very safe. Some of my ex-mates didn't join alumni and their kids are also in MBS.
I am keen to enrol my child in MBS. I glance thru the thread n saw that u posted e above. Just to check if i am still in time to join the alumni for the P1 registration? My child is k1 tis yr so she is due for registration next yr. All along i thought tat the only way is thru joining buddhist federation.
Also, Im residing in sengkang. Want to find out those who live more than 2km from MBS, how do u guys get in? After seeing the gd reviews abt the school giving fair chance to weaker students too, makes me feel tat it shd have e right environment tat i want my child to be in.
So any helps or advice will be appreciated. Many thanks.

The alumni is only for ex-MBS students. If you are ex-student, you don't need to join alumni to get your child in MBS. You can try under Phase2 A2. Alumni members are under phase 2A1. But frankly no difference. For ex-student, entry to MBS is like 99.999%.
If you are not, I think the only way is through SBF. But I am unsure how to join SBF. Maybe some other parents who use this route can share. But for this year's Phase 2B (grassroot leaders and members of SBF) registration, there was balloting for those in Phase 2B by distance. So yes, distance in this case is still critical.
MBS does not accept parent volunteer so this route is out. -
Hi MMM,
Thanks for your clarification.
Oh my....theres balloting for phase 2b this yr? Had check the past few yrs, I think there is no balloting needed, was feeling quite relieve, but now....
Ya... any parents who took the buddhist federation route, could you pls share?? Anyone?? -
spring:
Yes, historically, it matched beautifully. 55 open and 55 applied. But this year, there was balloting. With the citizens having priority over PR, it sort of change the game. As a citizen outside 2km will still have priority over a PR within 1km.Hi MMM,

This year's balloting for phase 2B goes to those Singaporean who stayed beyond 2KM from the school.

Ok... but however for those staying within 1km still have higher chance than those tat stay >2km even when balloting is open to ppl staying >2km right?? Just check e MOE website which give an example if applicants is more than vacancies in phase 2b. More than 50% of e vacancies would be taken by ppl staying within 1km and 1-2km. Wondering if next yr registration theres balloting, would it be too risky for me? Hopefully there wont be balloting.
