Can someone pls adv how we can appeal to the school which yr child wants to go but has not met the minimum cut off? Our dream school is njc, cut off 259. child only scored 255 .... depressed mama
Not to depress first.
This year Express Student has 1000 number less than last year. 255 might already be good enough.

They cannot possibly take in that much in DSA (P6) to totally cover the number of pupils lost when they cancel Sec 3 DSA. Although not 4 marks that much, it would drop, surely.CrazyDad:

Yeah 4 points is a lot to drop. Maybe 1 point to 258 ?
Can explain again how does has cancellation of Sec 3 DSA linked with intake into Sec 1 IP program from PSLE students ? I thought Sec 3 & Sec 1 are totally different batch ? -

When I called them, they say that the cancellation of Sec 3 DSA means that the IP programme that starts form sec 3 is over. The whole thing merges into a 6 year IP programme with no sec 3 DSA. With no Sec 3 DSA, there would be lesser pupils in the IP programme, and hence, they are increasing slots, by 50, I heard. -

They could easily restore this by taking in additional 50 places thru PSLE DSA.
Even then, will 50 slots reduce the COP by much ? I am sure there are heaps of students in the range of 259, 258, 257, 256. Think max would drop is 258 ? -

For marks between 255-259, not everyone would be thinking of NJC. For those in 259, they would probably be thinking of Dunman (add bonus marks) and for 255, they would be thinking of River valley. Anyway, we won't know anything before the results come out.
My prediction- Definitely lower than 258. Not as much as 4 marks, but not as little as 1 mark.
Edit: Please note that last year's NJC merely took in 100+pupils. -
I read from another thread that NUSH requires the students to accept offer of place by 23rd. So this means students won’t have a chance to appeal to other schools such as RI, HCI, NYGH, dunman high etc?
What about appeals under S1 posting? As appeal can be made to more than 1 school, then if get offer from school A, need to accept immediately or can wait for school B? -

Juz wondering, how many points can drop arising from 259 due to 50 additional slots ? There ahould be a few thousands students with 258 out there, right ?50 slots is ALOT.

Generally, what are the reasons students who applied for DSA but then when got accepted they want to appeal to other schools ?I read from another thread that NUSH requires the students to accept offer of place by 23rd.
