Wow, your gal is good, gongxi gongxi... so she is among the top in her cohort.

Ya, my DS came back with his report book.

Is there class/cohort ranking in your DD's report book? Just wondering where my DS stands in the class/cohort.
      TQ TQ πŸ˜‚

No class/cohort ranking in the report book. Her FT told me personally about the ranking. I am very pleased with her result. You may check with the FT if you want to know. πŸ˜„

As far as I know, for P3, 3G and 3F are the top two classes. Overall percentage above 85% for Band 1. No ranking for the rest of the classes. G and F will advanced to A and B classes respectively for P5 & P6 levels if they keep up with their results.

Thanks! So, it is just go by sequence... but I am surprised that one of son's classmates who always do well in her tests ended up in 3A???

My son is doing higher chinese in P1 & 2, so does he automatically continue with that for P3? or is there any streaming for this?

                Hi Optimus,

My understanding from my DD is based on result. The allocation of classes for DD classmates are very closed to their results.

No, heard from DD that last week her MT teacher was doing the assessment for next year MT classes.

Which class your DS will be in for next year ?

His MT teacher just told me that they will be studying their results during sch holidays and we will know it next yr.

According to the form teacher, they don't go by banding per subject but overall percentage (tests and exams results from Term 1- 4). T4 carries the highest weightage, 40%. So for those who did well in SA2, results got pulled up while those who did badly will be pulled down.

The school sieve out top 80 pupils based on their overall marks in %. Students going to G, F classes should be getting at least 85% (Band 1 grade) and above). For those below 85% will be assigned accordingly into E, D, ... classes.

G class percentage should be ranging from 99%, 98%, 97% ... till it reaches the 40th student, closed door. πŸ˜„ Next 41th-80th students will go to F class. G class students should be getting B1 for all subjects, it just makes sense.

For F class, some may get B1 for all three subjects, or at least 2 B1 subjects + high B2 for the other. Like SAHM2KIDS said, all the results are very closed.

The above is the same practice in Nanyang (from a friend) except that they have 160 high achievers into four classes. NYP has 13 classes in P1-P2 unlike the usual 9-10 classes!

All these rankings/bandings and getting into the top classes are making me anxious, thou my DS is only P1 this year, but can really feel the "heat". Apparently, the class did really well, and their results are very close.
