Seems that its quite common nowadays amongst schools to use differentiated textbooks for various classes. Some schools differentiate it for their Sci as well.Parents with P3 booklist, any idea why the difference in the type of Maths books to purchase for different classes? I can understand if it was more challenging questions for the better the students but to split till 3D, 3G & 3H and ....... ????
I'm thinking if i will be too kiasu if i purchase the other books too. -
^ I really hope the school is not treating the kids as guinea pigs to find out which materials work out the best.

It's tempting but not much pt if not suitable for e kids' level. Either increase boredom or stress unnec. Might not hv e time too.Parents with P3 booklist, any idea why the difference in the type of Maths books to purchase for different classes? For p4, I noticed that some classes that didn't use OnSponge in p3 this year will b using e p4 version next year, while those used e p3 version will b using another series next yr. So e pupils will b exposed to different levels of thinking order systematically n when they r ready? -

Not to worry, think this yr p3 was e guinea pig batch as the notice to buy different maths assessment bks by class was given only when sch re-opened. Would hv fine-tuned for next yr p3.

By the way, heard from the school during the Pri 1 orientation that they are going to make all girls wear their school skirt on PE days. Meaning, PE attire plus skirt and only remove the skirt during PE.
So parents do prepare more skirts if you have not done so. -
not for P4 to P5. Teachers asked to check in the NCPS portal during the hols.
so cannot buy now. :slapshead:[/quote]

From NCPS website:
CLASS ALLOCATION FOR PRIMARY 4 TO 5
Dear parents,
Please be informed that your child’s class allocation for Primary 4 to 5 will be announced
on the 27th of December 2012. Class allocation details will be sent to your child’s
Live@edu email account via the school learning management system (LMS) from that
day onwards. If you need any technical assistance, please call 9650 4927.
Thank you.

Wonder why do they need to take so long and there is no reason given, at least not from the short notice on the website. -
I can understand if school needs more time for sorting out the P5 classes, but 27 Dec is really running a tight timeline. Imagine parents who have to settle their newly minted sec 1 child in addition to last minute P5 purchase; what about those travelling during this period? And, the school bookshop is not open on 31 Dec.
DoDo_DoDo,
To answer your question : Since not all parents will accept the school’s recommendation on subject combination for P5, the school will have to relook at all the option forms submitted and sort out the classes accordingly, that’s why they need longer time. But then again, only on 27 Dec … ??? -
BlueBells:
Thanks, Bluebells! I am not sure how long did the school give the new p5 parents to decide on their subject combi (of course i am a strong advocate of giving parents sufficient time to think through), but i kind of suspect it boils down partly due to the lack of systematic planning on the part of the school.I can understand if school needs more time for sorting out the P5 classes, but 27 Dec is really running a tight timeline. It is just like I understand that for the BICEP decision for the new P4 students, parents were only given 1 day to decide, or rather less than 24 hours to decide as the childrens were given the form on Wed and by Thurs morning, they have to submit the decision. -
Wow! This is really late!
Does this happen every year?
Might as well bring forward p4’s SA2 a week like p5, so that e timeline can b brought forward too.
