The gap between IP and non-IP JCs is widening. Gone were the days where we could hear students from the lower end JCs making it into the medicine or law. One common joke among my ex-students in the law faculty told me: There are only 2 JCs in the Law faculty; RI(JC) and OJC (other JCs). Even within IP schools, the gap is widening too between the govt and independent IP JCs. -

This Kiasu Pirate also knows that apart from the whirlpools and reefs, there are many other buccaneers in fast, modern ships with big cannons out there in the blue yonders. And Yarrr! Sorry, enrolment statistics wise I’ve nothing much to share.
MOE will give each JC different number of scholars (some schools have more than others). There is a possible fixed quota for govt school but for independent ones we are more flexible. Usually we will go overseas and recruit foreign students on top of those already given to us by MOE. How many we recruit will depend on the capacity of the facilities in the school. -
It is indeed very competitive to get into local uni. Here's the link to the indicative grade profile published by nus.

Maybe I should consider moonlighting to earn more money and give my kids papamama scholarship to an overseas uni - or better yet send them to do foundation yr in Aussie and skip 'a' levels altogether! -
