I am from st nicks, entered in sec 1 and now waiting for o level results.

These 4 years I have never ever regretted coming here even though it was my 2nd choice, 1st dunman high. I am actually thankful that i didnt get into dhs! haha. The school culture in st nicks is just so vibrant and loving. The girls are very accepting and I found friends easily, there is no discrimination based on family background, wealth or results at all! Triple science girls have good friends in the normal chinese class, everyone I know just mixes and never judges each other. Some indian or eurasian girls who take chinese and came here also have no problem fitting in, in fact they are celebrated for their differences and they share with us their culture. I have never been happier going to school everyday despite living really far away and having to travel 2h by bus back home, it's so nice when you enter the classroom in the morning and your classmates smile at you and say good morning, when you pass your friends in the corridor and it's just so happy and smiles all around everyday! When you are feeling down, the girls would always be so concerned and caring, you will feel so loved πŸ™‚
As for workload, I personally find it manageable, as long as you do your part, pay attention in class and complete homework. Everything will be a breeze! The teachers are very willing to help, in fact they would pester us to meet up with them to clarify our doubts or for extra practice. If there's anything you don't understand during lesson, the teachers are so sweet and more than willing to stay back and help if you just ask! So I feel there is no need for tuition πŸ™‚ Also the girls here are very kind and helpful, not competitive at all, we always ask each other for help in school work and everyone helps one another. During the days nearing o level our phones was frantic with all the pictures of questions we would whatsapp each other asking for help, the questions would circulate until some smart girl solved it and the solution would go all around again! I could not have got through it without my classmates and friends, who are so unselfish and never just think of only wanting themselves to do well, and I am so grateful! If you ever need extra help, you will receive it here. The school also has lots of resources, and they are not only given to the top classes or what. I am in one of the weaker classes but I have never been slighted by the school or my school mates and have had my fair share of enrichment classes! In fact, the school teachers put in a lot of effort to help weaker students πŸ™‚
The principal is also fantastic, she is always, always trying to make school better for all the students, and is very approachable πŸ™‚
All in all, st nicks is a wonderful place to be, I always feel so safe, happy and loved at school ❀

Wa...glad u had such wonderfull 4 Years in St Nicks.
Always heard scary stories from other people's friends abt the stress level...
You mentioned abt the 'Principal' being fantastic ... Is she the ex-P or current one?
Thanks.

was referring to the current principal, she's great πŸ˜„ stress level is inevitable i think! especially when big exams approach. but having these kind people around eases it a whole lot. haha yes it was a wonderful 4 years, everyone just suddenly realised how comfortable the environment is in st nicks when it was time to go.

welcome new mei mei men!! :rahrah: there will be ups and downs but i'm sure all of you will meet the best people you know there and leave st nicks happy, confident and well-groomed girls. all this sounds so preachy and like i got brainwashed like that but no haha, it's all true confirm plus guarantee!
Totally completely definitely 100% sure I agree with you πŸ˜„
I dunno whether it has been mentioned here, but these JJM raised money to get the school a swing and new study tables and benches just before they left :') Thanks a whole bunch, and good luck for your results! πŸ™‚

Hi,

I've been posted to this school (IP) and would like to ask a few questions.
1. How many days in a week do you guys usually have PE?
2. How many books/files do you guys usually carry around in your school bag?

TIA! πŸ˜„

HELLO. WELCOME TO THE FAMILY.
1) We have one pe lesson per week as a class (1hour), one mass pe session with other classes (half an hour) and morning jog once each week. Sports here is as serious as academics, I tell you. Everyone gets tan lines πŸ˜›
2) If it's the weight of your bag you're worried about, dont worry! It's manageable. There are lockers in the classroom you can use, too πŸ™‚

Thanks a lot for the info! BTW, it's not the weight I'm worried about. It's just that I'm not sure how big my school bag should be.

People survive with jansports and whatnot. So it should be fine πŸ™‚ But if you stay further away from the school and you need to travel long distances back home, I suggest you get one that has good support. Or you'll end up with sore shoulders on crowded public transport. Trust me, it's NOT nice.
