Hi, I have a couple of questions regarding the uniform:
1) The velco on the belt - will it still stick after a number of washes? Should we do something to secure it, e.g. stitch it?
2) The green, plastic name tag - do we write the name on the white sticker and stick it onto the green tag? Wouldn’t it look awful if your handwriting is not nice? I’m so used to sewed-on name tags that this idea is a bit weird…
Thanks for any ideas! -
Hi,
any one taking German as 3rd language?
My dd thinking of switching to Japanese or French. -

French is quite hard I heard, because everything got a gender one, so must pronounce in a certain way (according to a friend who takes french). Like a table is female? I think, or male or something ._. So confusing.Hi,

If you take Jap would help if your Chinese is good, I heard. -

Do stitch the Velcro on, as it detaches after washing. But I need to warn you that it's pretty difficult to stitch on. If you can buy the type of Velcro that doesn't have adhesive at the back, it will be easier to stitch.
Not sure abt the name tag question, as far as I know, all secondary girls will get a plastic name tag with their name engraved on it. Anyway, no need to sweat over handwriting, I don't think the girls will actually scrutinize it. Relax, school is really fun!...even with all the work -
Why not consider sewing buttons on the belt instead, its easier:)

The velcro will come off during washing if not stitched on. Don’t bother to sew it on yourself, with the adhesive, it is next to impossible to pull the needle through. I send it to a seamstress to machine stitch it on.

Thanks, all, for your ideas. I spent half a day stitching the velcro on. It’s indeed hard work…even broke the needle in the process!
As for the name tag, we figured that the handwritten one could be temporary, with the permanent, engraved one coming after the entire name list is finalized -
Need some advice from experienced current students or parents of current students. Supposing part of my dd’s CCA selection is as follows:
1st choice: a CCA she likes very much
6th choice: a CCA she’s not very keen on but she was noted to have potential in it during the Talent Discovery sessions
Which choice would she likely be granted, assuming her first choice CCA has enough vacancies and she is also deemed suitable in the audition? Will the school override her preferences and put her into her 6th choice bcoz this CCA "needs" her more than her 1st choice CCA?
Would appreciate sharing of your observations. Thanks! -

If she goes for lst CCA trial/audition and proves her worth, I believe she will get that choice. But it depends on vacany and how gd thè rest of the applicants are. Can still appeal after the result, I believe.Need some advice from experienced current students or parents of current students. Supposing part of my dd's CCA selection is as follows:

There are certain CCAs deem popular like Choir, Track n Field, Hockey, Modern Dance, Badminton.
