How much do you spend on the kids' tuition/enrichments?
-
how much we spend depends on the quantum of enrichment given and the no of kids. I have 3 kids but give them only chinese enrichment, the rest are non-academic training like ballet, swimming and Wushu, during the school holis, I sign them up for more activities, I don’t know how much I spend but all these certainly adds up given the number of kids I have

We’ve 3 kids ranging from P2 to P6. They have enrichment for all subjects. There are non academic enrichment such as S&D and swimming. So probably around average $850 per child.

I have 2 kids. DD is 3 so no enrichments yet but she is very keen in ballet and piano. DS has Chinese tuition (option B) but will start swimming soon. Wushu as cca in school, that is not confirmed yet so not sure if I need to pay. I have a sahm friend who told me she dares not calculate the amount she spends on her kids’ tuition n enrichments every month. I need to leh since I have a fixed allowance. This is also why I need to estimate the new expenditure, not wanting to go overboard.

Pardon my ignorance, may I know what is S & D? -
why dont you work within your means since you have a fixed allowance and then eliminate those "nice to have but not required" enrichments? I think the course fees for enrichments are rather public info right?

To be honest, I really have no idea how much those enrichments cost since I mainly bought assessment books and taught DS myself. Chinese tuition was recommended and since we like her enough, we continue this year (with an increment of course). I have yet to find out if the nearest CC offers classes. I think I shall get cracking soon. Just the other day, DH told me I was too relaxed with the kids and should buck up a little and instil some discipline. :faint: -

Chinese at berries and tien hsia for preschoolers are about $350-$400 per quarter. Phonics/English classes are about $390 a $500+ depending on which service provider u go to. Math classes are around $500.
There is little point knowing how much these classes cost, but that’s my take. When I first sought out enrichment classes, I was "need" oriented. Eg I feel that I can’t teach Chinese and phonics, so I send my kid to classes. When I zoom in what I want, I google/ read forum pages to shortlist the potential schools. But then, I appreciate that you may have budget constraints. -
Thanks moderator for merging the topic. Very educational reading all the old sharings I must say and they certainly help!
