well i wonder whether that all students from IP schools are really the CREAM of the CROP. Many parents send their kids to GEP training/cram sessions to get them ready for the GEP tests. So the qn remains as to whether they are really that good in the 1st place. If a child does the GEP test without any Training and passes, then the child maybe gifted.

time will tell.....by the time they reach sec 3 or sec 4

BPGHS should maybe in time become a SAP school. I have watch this year National Science Challenge in TCS5 and the boys from BPG perform extremely well and is the first school to get into the finals beating school like NUSHS in episode 5.

And BPGHS is the overall champion for this year NJRC 09 (National Junior Robotic Compeition). So they got to go Japan end of this year. 😄

        awesome better than fuhua??

As far as HMT is concerned, both schools offer them and students need to score A* in both languages before they can take the subject.

So what's the real difference with sap and non-sap? The culture in Nan Hua is more Chinese oriented, perhaps while in BPGHS, they accept students of all races. Maybe ccas are different too.
I studied at BPGH in the late 70s-early 80s. Back then, BPGHS was in a rural area. I remembered our PE lessons were always running on orange muddy tracks with bushes on both sides. Public transport was inadequate and not well connected to other parts of Singapore. Therefore, many students living in the west who did well in their PSLE chose BPGHS as their first choice and studied in BPGHS. It had students from Chinese stream and English Stream; i.e. classes of students who took Chinese as 1st language, and classes of students who took English as 1st language. Therefore, the school was still a very 'Chinese' school compare to other schools. I remembered that we had to sing school song and recite our school motto in Chinese every Monday. It maintains its humble stature although it had already established itself then as a premier school in the west. Coupled with the fact that there was no proliferation of internet, BPGHS was unheard of to many others who do not live in the west. With the abolishment of Chinese stream, I suppose it is now a full-fledged English school like any others. Highly possible that BPGHS would have been a SAP school had it not been converted into a full-fledged English school.

[quote=\"Ca3kids\"]Anyway , thank you for providing the above list. I didnt know Cedar,Bukit Panjang Government High, Anderson, Victoria, Tanjong Katong are good secondary too?

BTW, MGS and SJI stands for? :?

BPGHS is the BEST non-ip school in the west, COP for last year was 244 beating even nan hua. All my siblings (5 of us) are alumni.

Happy to see also that my girl's sec school tkgs is listed in the top performers too.

E.g Nanyang Girls High, Hwa Chong, River Valley, Pei Hwa Presbyterian Primary, Nanhua Primary and so on. 🙂 :grphug:
