To parents considering North Vista Pri
The orientation starts with a performance by the P1 children. The children developed the whole performance from the dance step to the music. I am inpressed.
then followed by talk by the principal, VP and nurses on dental care.
After attending the P1 orientation, I've learnt the following:-
1) the school is extending the class from 220pm to 310pm with CCA during lesson time except 130pm on wed. There will be 2 breaks, one at 10am (20mins) and another at 12nn (40mins)
2) the students are required to purchase a Netbook around mid-end of P1
3) parents are only allowed into the sch to see their children on the 1st day of sch. Did not mention the 2nd day. Other days they are only to drop the sch at the bistro(canteen) in the morning.
4) speech and drama is incorporated into the english lesson
5) children will build up their own portfolio thru out the year
6) name tag will be distribute when the sch opens
Hope this helps

Hi Jccmum
Ha ha, it seems both of us are in the school for that orientation day except we didn't manage to know one another. I even try out the chinese canteen stall for fried kway teow and guess how much? 50 cents per plate and drink is one dollar per can. Quite reasonable priced for primary school student. Didn't manage to buy the textbooks and the school uniform yet as need to rush off after the briefing by the Parent Support Group as my child is having the enrichment lesson thereafter. Did you manage to buy the school textbook and school uniform on that day? By the way, my employer cannot release my work earlier in order to fetch my kid from the student care which end at 645pm, which left me with no alternative but to source and hire someone to pick up my kid from student care after it ended at 645pm as there is no possibility that we can pick her up before school closed. Another expenses for us again...sigh.jccmum:

The turnout for the orientation is good. The parents from the P1 was also there to support the \"kittens\". (Pri 1 performers)Hi Jccmum

I was just wondering how much pocket money to give my son, since it's quite reasonable think $3 might be more than enough for him. Will pack something for him to bring for the earlier break time fro the 1st few days/week so that he might not be too overwhelmed. -
Hi jccmum,
you can go to North Vista website and click on What's New icon. There's a food menu for 2010 so you can use that as a guide to decide how much pocket money for your son next year. :celebrate:jccmum:

Hi Parent
Anyone has any idea what is the difference between class p1-1 and p8 in north vista primary? Does that mean my kid is not "clever" and thus has been assigned to p1-8 class which is towards the last two class?

i had checked with the school on this cos' my girl is in P1-7. The classes are allocated randomly. There are 9 classes of P1. I had noticed that the last 4 classes do not have any other races except chinese in the class. Who knows maybe the better ones are those in the last few classes.

Hi, I am new to this forum. Is the open house meant for parents with kids entering in Yr 2011? I didn't see this info in its website. Tks!
valencia:
Next Wed, the school will be having an \"open house\". Perhaps, from the visit will be able to judge more.
-
Can post more details of the open house? e.g. what time, any program, open to whom.
-
My gd fren is a staff member there. Next Wed is not an open house. Itβs a curriculum briefing for parents. Heard only parents are allowed.
-
Hi all,
I just called the school. The curriculum briefing is for P2-P5.
