Hello,
I have PM you. -
Does anyone have any details about when we will be getting the Slate this year? The Sec 2 seniors got theirs in mid/end February last year but my teachers have yet to say anything regarding the payment and arrival of the Slate. Thank you in advance. ^^
EDIT: Some of my friends from other classes says April, not sure though. -

Hi. I felt that I should give some assurance here. I was a canoeist throughout my 4 years in Crescent and I was an average student, most of my teammates were. At the end of the 4 years, all of us were eligible for JC (but I chose to go to a polytechnic). I am currently in my final years of my Chemical Engineering degree programme in Technische Universität München.
When I first started out, I did very badly for my exams (it was always just enough for me to continue to the next level) because I was getting used to training intensities and fighting to concentrate in class. It was to the exent that my parents threatened to pull me out of the team or transfer me to another school. Canoeing was my life and Crescent was my other home, apart from Macritchie, and upper secondary was still a struggle. My teachers IC helped us a lot. They always reminded us that we were students before canoeists and on non-training days, we will sit together and have informal consultations for any subjects we were weak in.
Managing training and my grades was a tough feat but I came out a more disciplined person. I think most of us did, regardless of our CCA. By the way, all my canoeing teammates are currently in universities, local and abroad. I must also add that none of us retained in Crescent, we came in and graduated together

Hi Sec 1 parents,
I'm wondering what are u choosing for the slate PC ? Acer or Samsung ?
My DD says she wants Acer bcos it looks chic ( :faint: ) while Samsung looks old fashion.
I am concern of Acer's batt life tho, seems kind of short at 2-3 hours -

A word of caution, parents, sensitivity of stylus is also very important. I understand one of these brand is not very sensitive. Do get advice from the IT head before making the purchase.Hi Sec 1 parents,

Reasons:
1) There is is a Wacom digitizer and the S Pen included is a Wacom digital pen, there are 1024 levels ( which is very high ) of pressure sensitivity, very useful for digital drawing.
2) I agree that the Acer one looks a bit nicer, but it is actually heavier than the Samsung one. Weight is very important.
3) The front camera of the Acer Iconia W700 is only 1.3 MP, compared to 2 MP on the ATIV Smart PC Pro. The difference may not seem very big when you look at it, but there will still be a difference.
4) You can attach the screen with the keyboard together, making it seem like a laptop. It is easier to carry around when you need the keyboard. For the Acer one, you'll have to carry the keyboard separately, together with the dock thingy ( ? ).
5) 一分钱,一分货
I have always preferred white stuff over black but I think the ATIV Smart PC Pro looks quite nice actually. It will be an alien in the house though.
