I don't always feel that my kids are more fortunate than I was, actually. With fewer possessions, choices and distractions, life was actually simpler. Now I see them struggling with too many gadgets and games, too many phone calls and messages, too many calls on their time, too many choices... it's tougher in many ways. Also, because we have lived overseas for most of their lives, they've had more changes and less stability and continuity than I had, so that's tough too.

:goodpost: u r absolutely right. Parents hv prob to control n discipline the use of these gadgets n games for their children.

Whenever we go out for meals, i notice the children will be either playing ipad/hphone,husband or wife on the phone or surf nets.Each of them does their own things,no interaction.
I feel a bit unhealthy,it supposes to be family outing,they shld be sharing activities together such as chit chatting.I recall when i was small, me n brothers always played monopoly,hide n seek,catch fish...which allowed us to hv more interaction.
thus, i set a rule, when we travel overseas,strictly no games.Keep telling the kiddo,if they wanna play games,might as well stay at home,don't travel.

As you had mentioned it would have been written by a grandma in the USA. To me, it is a recollection of her times (grandma possible to have memory lapse, I won't discount that when I become a grandma) and how the world had changed.

Whether penicillin, television, FM radio broadcasts, electric typewriters and ball-point pens had reached this grandma where she lives, I can't answer for her.

Isn't the reply a simple one?

I replied on concern2 calling children being deposited in a holding room and a caravan bringing them to a ulu childcare an exaggeration.

My take is it may not be that far-fetched as this grandma story shows how the world changes over a short time span.

Recalled the Minister suggesting old folks home for our people to be housed across the causeway, I feel the tongue-in-cheek suggestion should not be dismissed as impossible.

I doubt so lah, it sounds more like it's written by some young chap that's overzealous, dying to impress, lazy to do background research to authenticate the info even it's such an easy task with google... and, I suspect the author probably has not much of a sense of responsibility, all he/she cared for was to catch some attention... Often seen people post comments by copying ideas/views from what they read online, just rephrase the words nia. :evil:
