It's not correct to say that the kids can choose to be in GEP or Thoburn. Those who qualify for GEP can choose to remain in ACJS to do Thoburn, thereby giving up their GEP seats. But not all the boys in Thoburn qualified for GEP.

Similarly for MGS's Sophia Blackmore programme. Of the 30+ girls in SBC, only fewer than 10 qualified for GEP. The rest didn't make it through the selection test.
      Hi!

U may wish to see ACS Thoburn/MOE website. They have to select cos there is only one Thoburn class. That's what i meant for those eligible GEP.

Yr child in Thoburn class too or teacher? I'm not here to correct u..just here to share. Hope u do not get offended. Like u shared in detail abt Sophia Blackmore..
      Thanks!

What are your considerations for choosing a school? Perhaps running through your reasons may help you decide better.

What is the travelling distance to ACJS? If it is far away, then it will be tiring for the kid. Also, if it is far, then consider the financial burden of school bus/public transport/petrol.

Your profile mentions you have 2 kids, but not their gender. IS your second one a girl or a boy? If you have a younger girl, then sending your boy to ACJS would mean that eventually the 2 siblings will be going to different schools. Do take the trouble of sending 2 kids to 2 schools into consideration.

                  Hi,

I have read conflicting expereinces/hearsays in this forum about ACS accepting donations in cash or kinds.

If dontation is really accepted by the school, under which phase would the kid fall under?

Does anyone know who I can call in the school to find out if they accept donation for sure?

                  Thanks!

                    Hi!

Unless you heard it from the horse's mouth, that is, the person who donated to the school got his son into the school because of the donation, I don't think you should believe in \"hearsay\" so much.

I am sure all schools welcome donations, but to link it to securing a place in the school?

I agree. I've heard several tales of how donating large sums of money will help secure a place at ACS but this is never from the parent themselves but it is always a friend of a friend or some distant relative...In fact, one of my pal had asked about it so that her son can go to the school but was told no. Erm, they get most of the donations from us parents after the child has entered in the school šŸ˜›

By the way, ryanfund, you haven't reported at the Newbie thread. Can you please report there? It's the SOP in KSP.com. šŸ˜‰
