RE: What are the crafting activities you can do with your child?
Hi soundt2x
My girl often joins her classmates for playdates and we found beading to be an activity enjoyed by them and something everyone can bring home.
I started my girl on painting when she was 2-3 years old. I would given her a palette of colours, brushes, sponges and guide her on how we can create different prints/strokes and even colours by mixing. She also gets to stamp her hand prints with the paint. I know if a friend who uses this as wrapping paper for kids' presents.
Using felt, buttons, sequins, beads, we would craft felt muffins, cookies and teabags which we use as 'tea party snack' when we play with her toy teacups & teapot.
With felt, you can also create felt flowers and make them into hair ties/clips.
There are also shrink art where you colour the template, oven it and you'll get charms, keychains, accessories from these shrunk pieces of art.
Crafts never fail to thrill my girl. It not only occupy her (keeps her away from the TV!), relaxes her mind (without stressing her like homework does), it also encourages creativity

RE: All About Party Packs, Decorations and Stuff
I would go for the party/loot/gift bags at Daiso too! Quality + affordability! For other partywares, sprees/forums are good sources.

Oh yes, for girls, beading can be fun too! Daiso is also a good place to source for beads and nylon string. With beads, string & some creativity, you can come up with unique โself-madeโ braclets, necklaces, rings, earrings and even bag charms!

Agree that Daiso has good craft supplies like origami paper, pipecleaners, felt, DIY buttons, etc. You can venture on paper flowers crafts (with origami paper, pipecleaners) or making practical and usable crafts like buttons hair-ties (with button shells covered with fabric/lace).
Sand art can also be fun to do at home (albeit messy) and stain glass too. We are also into decoupage!
I used to download craft templates from Nickelodean & Martha Stewart websites. My kid loved them!
Have fun crafting! -
RE: Singapore Chinese Girls' Primary
A question for existing parents of SCGS students:
On school attire, specifically footwear. Would any white socks do or do we need โschoolโ socks? Also, any guidelines on shoes?
Thanks.
