mellory:Of course we can appeal to the schools where our COP are higher. However, what if the school do not have vacancy anymore? so what if you can match the COP but there might not be a vacany for the school that match your COP anymore! Should MOE has announced this initiative earlier, we would not even put any school with a higher COP in our choice at all since we can appeal in this case.aaaaaa:Shouldn't this directive new ruling be announced after the release of PSLE result and before our selection of schools? In this case, we are more prepared when making selection. We were so stressed as we didn't get into any of our 6 choices and was posted to a neighbourhood school that was way below our COP. Should we have known this, our choice of schools would be wiser!
My dd classmate 250+2 posted to TKGS (236), AHS (240) is not in her 6 choices, but now she decided to appeal to AHS and should be successful. What I'm saying is that u can appeal to any schools with cop lower than your t-score, even it's not one of your 6 choices....

Way below your cop? Do you mean, a neighbourhood school that has a cop that is way below your T-score? -

RE: Bringing indonesianmaid to Australia for holiday
Seunggi:
I brought my filippino maid to Australia in last march. Yes, she has to apply the visa at the embassy and a stack of papers to be completed. It's a tedious process and they are very strict with it. However, I have gotten it approved as she has worked for us for more than 5 years and I needed to have her to take care of my infant during the trip.Hi
Has anyone brought their maid (particularly Indonesian) to Aust together with the family for holiday?
I plan to bring my maid with us and I read on the Aust embassy Singapore website that its possible to apply such visa. Does anyone have experience with this as it says the maid has to apply personally. My only fear is that she can't speak English so she may not understand certain things there at the embassy. Also wondering if anyone's maid got stopped n questioned at the immigration in Aust?
Any advice is appreciated! -

RE: Learning Point - Discussion
Ymy:
I guess as parents sometimes we just need to \"trial and error\" hopefully to get the best of the best! Well, a lot of Parents from KS forum sing praises for TAS but it didn't work for me and hence, what benefits me but not benefits all. Hopefully we can hear from genuine parents giving their honest feedback for sharing. Hope this helps!Hi! aaaaaa,
Thanks for sharing. My DD will be joining LP Next year. (P3) Hope I can see improvement in her comprehension. She is rather weak in this area. -

Hi Ymy,Hi!aaaaaa,
Thanks for your feedback . May I know which level is your child? And it takes about how long for you to see the improvement?
She is in P3 now. I recalled when I was doing her revision for CW for SA1, as she can't write well at that time hence I had no choice but to make her memories the story for her paper tmlo. We have spent so much time to memorise the theme and hopefully she cld spot on one that is similar to what she has learnt. I was quite frustrated as I knew it wasn't the way to teach/do her CW in long term. Hence, from recommendation by a friend, I got to know about LP and hence I withdrew her from Creative horizons and enrolled her in LP. Recently, before the SA2, I found that she could write so much better than before, some of her works was actually selected to show to her class which had never been before. In SA2, I di d not even have to go thru CW with her, or I did was to ask her to do some readings as now I feel more confident in her writing and trust that she can write well. And yes, she did very well for her English papers.
Hence I guess she has been with LP for only about 6 mths to see the improvements. I am a result oriented person, if I do not see improvement in her grades for 6mths, I will switch as I do not want to waste my time and money!
Hope it will work for u guys too.
